I ordered a snack yoyo from their website and the bearing they put in it became responsive in 2 days. Now I’ve ordered an arcade yoyo and the bearing in that has become responsive in 2 days also. Do they just make bad bearings?
The one that came in my winter solstice was amazing and I loved it, but my friend got an arcade the other day and had the same issue idk what the problem is but it really sucks
Uh, what was the question again?
Just out of curiosity, if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?
OP, @Yoyomonk , have you tried cleaning them?
Thanks for the dissertation, Doc! lol.
Was gonna say that it just sounds like you need to clean your bearings, but Shwa beat me to it. A speck of dust, a flake of rust, or a even a small piece of foam from your yoyo case could get in between there. I have to clean out the bearing on my beater weekly from the lint and dust that it gets sitting in my pocket.
also if you use lube clean the bearing seats
The one I got in the bundle in the shop here has been fantastic. Very quiet even in a plastic, and great spin time. Very happy with it, would buy another for sure. It is indeed exactly like my old Dif-e-Yo Koncave 2013-ish.
also as stated, those locked up bearings probably just need cleaned. I just had to clean a bearing I cleaned a week ago because a strand of string tangled up in the ball cage and collected some debris, and I was running shields.
C’est la vie
Edit: I just re-read the title lmao, I am discussing Original Throw bearings in my post here
I see that this is a matter of luck, bearings are such a weird thing, sometimes the yoyo arrive with great ones sometimes not, go and clean it as people said and will be good as new! In case you can you can buy a bulk of bearings from when they get locked (sometimes even cleaning them you do not solve the issue), I really like the Atmos bearings
I tried cleaning my snack bearing but then it went back to being responsive. I will try pure acetone this time with both shields removed.
allot of the shop that sells those stock has been on a shelf for a good while. bearing lube can get gunky over time and all bearings have some amount of grease/lube in them from the factory unless the brand intentionally cleans them like luftverk.
with that said clean the bearing it probably has just been sitting for a long time. old yyf stock is often like that or like duncan or yyf or yomega stuff at small shops thats been on the shelf for a long time gets that way too.
if it played fine before returning responsive, make sure you take a qtip and some alcohol and clean the bearing seat really well. sometimes lube can deposit there and make it back into a freshly cleaned bearing
