Are there any falconers here? I have a friend who does falconry and I was wondering if there was anyone on here who did it?
Sounds cool. But sadly I don’t.
Where are you from, roughly?
No Falcons, but I have Pigeons. Always wanted to be a Falconer when I was a kid. Turns out Pigeons kind of scratch the same itch of training a bird to fly away and come back. I love watching them soar all around town together every afternoon.
Always respected falconry, would love to someday get into it, but I have entirely too much going on lol
Whoa I didn’t know ppl did that. Thats so cool! Nah tho bc i live in a big city. Send falcon pics
No Falcons, but I’ve been training the local Eagles to mess with anyone who can’t make up their mind in line for food.
I kid, of course—I’ve really been training them to sing and dance, they seem to like Elvis, as well as The Beach Boys.
We were gonna go worldwide next month in our “~hAkAaAAwH; eEEeK!” tour, but “Scratchy,” our only bass, fell on a hotdog—poor guy didn’t notice; ate the whole thing.
If any of you happen to find an Eagle who can sing bass, drop me a dime.
Arizona
Huh. Cool! How many pigeons do you have?
Uhm I don’t have any on me right now but I’ll try if I can.
Currently have 5 adults, one baby, and a bird sitting on two eggs. Farthest flight to date is about 12 miles.
People in cities do sometimes hire them to get rid of birds nesting on their buildings.
I have pursued Falconry for years.
The hardest part is finding a licensed Falconer to take on an apprentice. (Have not had this opportunity yet.)
Falconry, for those that dont know is a form of Hunting. Most states you have to have a hunting license along with the Falconry License and or permits.
These are birds of prey, that NEED to prey on things.
You may be surprised how much Falconry can be completed in Citys. Kestrels are popular especially around parks in citys.
This is definitely a bucketlist item at some point in my life.
I have most of the education requirements completed.
Very cool! My friend is apprenticed to a falconer. And has all the licenses necessary.
Keep trying! You’ll get there someday!
