Eagle cornered

This last Tuesday there were a couple of crows raising a ruckus in my yard. Thought maybe they were arguing about building a nest or whatever they squawk about. There were two of them about 30 ft up in one of my large pine trees. Looking more carefully I saw they had an eagle cornered in the tree.

Came back about an hour later and it was still there but the crows had left.

I live in a 1st ring suburb of Minneapolis so this was a bit unusual, though I’ve seen one fishing in a park pond about 2 miles from my house. Normally I see small flocks of crows chasing owls in the area.

He just waited them out. There were probably more crows than I saw and they will gang up on owls and eagles. I’ve never seen an owl make a stand and I suspect the same for eagles.

Way cool!

We had an eagle’s nest on the back of a property I had in Florida years ago. They would come and nest in the winter and then be gone a few months later. They were hard to get to. I just used a pair of binoculars and watched from a distance.

I always feel bad for the animals that crows pick on. Their teamwork seems unfair to the less clever.

Awh yes…,… bully bully bully dam crows-blackbirds are just noisy as hell and meaner than a junk yard dog!
Yes they can gang up, work together like ravens & California Condors……
Oh but if caught alone…. Squawk caw screaming running away as fast as their wings will take’em cause alone they are cowards!!
