Why would Yoyofactory name a yo-yo “Bimetal”? Sort of like Ford calling their new convertible; the “convertible”. Just mailing it in…

I think it’s just marketing to newer players. Using buzzwords as names to up the sales.
C’mon Geezer it’s all about SEO these days baby, it’s like those restaurants that literally name themselves “Thai Food Near Me” so when someone googles that, they’re the first thing to pop up. Now when some 13 year old kid starts searching for “bimetal yoyo” on Google, the YYF Bimetal pops up. Pretty smart actually - you think they’re playing checkers but they’re really playing 4D Chess. 
I can name a few yoyo companies that literally phone in everything BUT the name though

. These are also primarily marketed on the Big A online store, so its easy for Moms and Dads to find at an acceptable price point when the kid ask for a BiMetal.

Disclaimer: I see an opportunity for comedy here with this meme. I love the Bimetal, and yes I found it making a wish list for work prizes on the site that shall not be named.
I have the solid blue, and love this finish, I would love to see what the solid red one looks like in person.
The IQ and the Death Adder V2 are my most expensive yo-yos. The finish of my Bimetal and the simple engraving on the rims makes it feel high end to me.
Just my opinion.

Yes, I send the point of marketing to newer players. I guess I am just used to the old Yoyofactory. I want more like the IQ and less of the Amazon throws. I am sure that Ben’s balance sheet tells a different story though.

What are some examples of the Amazon throws? Is it just marketing to a beginner market? I’ve been trying to minimize my overall use of that site for years.
Funny. If I were Magic-Yo I would make a yo-yo named the “Bimetal” too. It is not a unique name so anyone can use it; right? Sell it on Amazon for a quarter of what Yoyoyfactory is charging.

You ought to try out the new Mega Monster. For me it certainly didn’t feel as exceptional as the IQ (imo their best performing yoyo ever), but still a very different and special feel. And definitely the sort of out of the box style of yoyo you’d expect from YYF. The specs would be insane if YYF hadn’t already pioneered the shape many years ago with the Mega Monster’s predecessors, and I feel like the extreme width really benefits from the bimetal design to take everything to a new level. It wasn’t the yoyo for me at all, but it is a really cool one.
