A few Black Light questions

Okay. I have a few questions about using a black light in my yoyo videos.

1.) If I want it so only the string shows up but eberything else to be pitch black, how should I go about doing this?
2.) If I have the lights on with a black light by me or the camera, will the string be even brighter than normal?
3.) What’s the best way to get the string (Yellow YYN Highlight) to glow really well on camera?

Thanks in advance

  1. Wear all black, including a black mask or something to cover your face. If you’re really white, cover as much skin as possible. Also, and this should have been obvious, turn the rest of the lights on in a room with no windows.
  2. It probably won’t be brighter than normal, but it will seem so because the rest will be dark.
  3. The best way is to use a bright white string, the thicker the better.

Good idea by the way.

Okay. Thanks. My dad gave me an idea of putting glow sticks in the rims of my yoyo a while back. It came out looking pretty cool XD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwZMW3vEJgQ (It’s at about 1:05) I got the Black Light idea from watching Con’s video battle.

Ha awesome. Nice video too… Haha

I recommend to use more than 1 blacklight. I shot about 5 shots with my camera and in only 1 was the string visible. Here is the video:

I can get the string to look like that sometimes, but I want it to look sort of like this:

Oh yeah. Good point. A glowing yoyo would be good to have too.
