4A start up

Hello all :waving_hand:t2:

I’m about to start my journey into soloham and was looking for a tutorial for the start up.

I’ve just ordered 2 w1ld bound and mega excited :grin:

I’m well aware that my skill set is no where near good enough to be attempting this but you gotta aim high I guess! I have done 2 diabolos for many years now and I know this is very different but does have some of the same elements so I’m hoping it’ll give me a fighting chance :crossed_fingers:t2:

This tutorial playlist is what I was told to check out and is a good intro for sure.

How much offstring do you know already also? If you are at 0—like never thrown a yoyo/ offstring yoyo, you will want to learn some fundamentals like throwing and catching. If you are sick w/ an offstring already, then dive-in bb. Good luck and have fun yo

I agree, this is a fantastic introduction to soloham! @Wasold1 welcome to the wonderful world of 4a soloham! Experience with 2D will help a lot, even if it’s not exactly the same as 4a soloham, it will definitely help. I have a hunch that the areas you’ll need to put in more learning and effort in will be the initial setup and the dismount/catch. These are covered in Rei’s tutorial series so I’d focus mostly on getting those down because if you already have a good foundation in 2D, the actual soloham tricks will likely have a lot of crossover. Once you have the setup and dismount/catch down, I’d highly recommend looking into Rei’s series of 100 soloham tricks and trying your hand at learning them. They aren’t full tutorials but they show different angles of the tricks and slowmo that still help. Feel free to ask more questions here or there’s also a soloham group chat on Instagram if you’re on there.

I’m very much a beginner but I have the throw, catch and bind locked and can do some hops underhand catches and arm orbits. Tbh I’ve just been trying trick I know on diabolo as I know how they work.

I’ll have a look at the vids on YouTube but unfortunately I don’t use instagram anymore after my account was hacked and instagram did nothing to help, I can’t support a platform that doesn’t support its users I’m afraid :pensive_face: tbh I’ve had more help on here in the last 2 days then I’ve had anywhere else so I’ll stick with it :blush:

I’ve been watching that playlist loads but 1 thing I’m very confused about is the release of the 2nd Yoyo, throwing the 1st you put your hand out to grab the string which also helps the Yoyos momentum go up but when I throw the second it just flys forward, any advice?
