Hey guys I got a $50 visa gift card from an amazing friend, and subtracting the $2 activation fee and the $5 shipping fee, I can say I got around $43 to spend.
I am not looking for a undersized, full-sized, or an oversized 1A yoyo.
I’ve always wanted a pocket throw (like a popstar) and a 10ball bearing, but then since I’m really getting into playing with fixed axles now, I’ve been thinking about getting one of those TMBR throws. I never owned a wooden fixed axle before. Can they loop decently? Or are the TMBRs like 1A oriented fixed axle throws?
I’m not really interested in 2A, but if the TMBRs can loop well, I am willing to buy two of them as a hybrid looping/string-tricks set kinda thing. I don’t plan getting too far for 2A, only loops, no arm tangles or acrobatic looping. Just regular good old loops.
Also, I really want to try 4A. What is the “easiest” 4A yoyo to learn on around this price range? Go big?
Well, aren’t we specific. That really helps a lot actually. I wish more people making requests would do that.
4A: Fiesta XX and Big Yo cost the same. I think the Fiesta XX is a bit better myself, but the Big Yo is a ideal starter. Actually both are good starter, but the bigger Big Yo gets you started a big easier. I won’t say anything about the Go Big other than it’s a model I’d like to get, but I have no urgency.
You don’t want undersized, yet you want a PopStar. OK. I’m confused. Sometimes it doesn’t take much. But I’m not clear what you want.
I hear stuff for 1A(popstar), 2A(TMBR or two) and 4A. I think you just need a to provide a bit more focus and direction. You can do a lot with $43. But you can’t do that much either. Once you can really decide what direction you want to go in, then it should be easier to make recommendation.
$2 activation fee? It’s like flushing money down the crapper!
Ah Mr. Studio 42 what would we do without you. Thank you so much for your reply! By mentioning undersized, I meant something around the 48~51mm range, and I consider yo-yos like the popstar or the St.eel as pocket sized as if it was in a different category. I apologize for the confusion haha. I just can’t make up my mind! But I think I’m gonna cross out the popstar and decide between a coin toss with the Fiesta XX and the two tmbrs.
I know right! But it’s a gift card from a friend for the holidays along with a cardigan, and it’s better than saying “no thanks” and getting nothing.
Bratty? No. I like the fact that you came in with a list of preferences and some concepts that you were after. Normally though, the style tends to be more focused though.
What would you do without me? Probably loads more!
Fiesta XX and the two tmbrs? That sounds like way too much fun for $43. All I can say is get bulk cotton strings or you’ll burn up poly string on the wood axles. Is that gonna kill your budget? But the TMBR’s are $15 each, and that puts you at $30 right there. Add 100-count cotton string and you’re adding $10.99 so now you’re up to $41.99, leaving you $1.01 left. Shipping is going to be $5.95, so actually, you’re pretty much right on budget.
The Fiesta XX is $22.50, so you’re not going to get that and the two TMBRS unless you’re going to use some other funds to wrap up your order.
I can’t say which way to go, but I think some lumber might be in your future! I’m not into the all wood yoyo thing. Those are so simple, but sometimes simple is best. No need to complicate things up, right?
The big-yo will fly backwards on a throw due to it’s size on throw so be wary. I know that a lot of 4a throwers dislike this and t can make it harder to adjust to other yoyos in the future. Think that the the fiesta xx or go big wold be much better choices.
