2Sick Knight and Cloud string(updated at bottom of page)

I posted in this section because this is not really a review or a recommendation. It is more of an observation that a few folks might find interesting.

So… The other day I got an order from YYE.

A Knight and some Monkey vines and a Hideyoshi and several Cloud strings. Mmmmh? What first?

So I put a Monkeyfinger Vine on the Hideyoshi. Excellent string and the Sengoku Hideyoshi is a Blast!

Just like the description said; it feels different than anything else on the market. It does. And I have a whole lotta yoyos, lol. It’s light but solid. It’s floaty(you don’t hear me say that word very often) but stable.
You throw it hard and straight and it has a Power you just have to experience. I cannot throw it without smiling.

But the real amazing moment was still in the box and Baggie.

Since I had two items left I decided to match em up and see what would happen?

The 2Sick Knight and a Cloud string. The Knight is beautiful… Period. Joey hasn’t released a bad yoyo. But this is a Badd yoyo in the Best possible ways. It Shocked me.

But it gets better. The Cloud string is thin and would real tight. I usually pre stretch strings. I don’t kill all the spring. But I give a good stretch or two before I cut to length.

The Cloud string just keep stretching, lol. Almost like it is elastic. So… I gave it a few good pulls and put it on the yoyo. Didn’t seem very promising. A bungie cord yoyo string, haha, boing!

I would not have bet a penny that I would like a rubber band-ish string effect.

Seriously dead wrong. I don’t think I have Ever had so much fun throwing a yoyo. Probably good chemistry to have put the Cloud on the Knight. I mean whatever string you end up using; if you start with a Great yoyo, that is heading in the right direction, right?

But the string is Simply Nuts! Everybody that home knows how much better they play when they are asleep and dreaming, hahaha.

But this was different because I wasn’t dreaming. The bounce in the string makes the yoyo feel like it doesn’t even hit the bottom of the string. So ‘Cloud’ was a pretty slick name for the string.

The elastic effect actually make the tricks seem more interactive. The way a ball moves around in a pinball machine. The yoyo seems ‘more alive’. It literally turns the yoyo into a slightly bouncing ball.

When Garrett told me the strings were $4 each, I was like, ‘what can a string do for 4 bucks’?

Well, I have certainly found out.

That string is the Most yoyo related fun I have had in 17 years.

It is Awesome!

I am not saying it replaces all other strings or that it is for every day use on every yoyo you have.

But on those days when you feel good and you are hitting your tricks and you just feel like Blazing away and playing Fast; put a Cloud string in motion and crank it up.

Merry Christmas to me.

The end.

Ive been eyeing the cloud string… haven’t pulled the trigger i dont think i can now i have a pretty big project coming up wont have any money to spare…

Though when i do get the cash most likely i will grab cloud strings thanks to this post…

Glad you like the knight Mo! Appreciate the support

That much better than the ape hangers? I loved the hangers.

It really wasn’t what I was trying to say. The Ape Hangers and the Cloud strings cannot be directly compared. I know they can be directly compared, but that wasn’t my intention.

The Apes cost 7 for 10. The Clouds cost 4 bucks each. I mainly use Kitty 1.5 string. When I am not using 1.5 I usually use YYSL Venoms.

The Vines are similar to the Venoms; which is fine for me.

That is why I mentioned I feel the Clouds are not necessarily for everyday play.

The Clouds are Fast… Throwing an already fast yoyo with a Fast string is like playing racket ball in a phone booth, lol.

If you are working on trick construction, etc., you more often would be served with a slower moving string yoyo combination.

When you blast off with a Cloud, you have to: put on your running shoes, put on some Metallica or Papa Roach and let er rip.

Some people may not like it at all. I would suggest for just adding a little adventure to life, to just bounce 4 bucks for 1 string on your next YYE order. It’s like that New ride at Disneyland you haven’t been on yet.

And you sure can’t get into Disneyland for 4 bucks…

i know you weren’t comparing but the ape hangers were completely looked over and was wondering what you thought of them.

And 4 bucks a pop?! My wallet is crying.

if yoyodoc says its like buying your way into disney… then i might pick up one…

The Knight is the first yoyo to really awe me since I first threw a Draupnir. I absolutely love it. Currently my favorite.

Update after more time spent with Cloud string.

I am still having a ton of fun with this bungie Cloud string, lol.

But a few things come into clearer view as time marches on.

The Cloud string is wound very tight. It is not only on the thinner side but it is wound more like curtain cord than yarn.

The combination of being thinner and its tight nature; causes it to be ‘hard’ like a wire.

So if you have soft skin… Thin skin… Or you play in areas with either higher humidity or just have sweaty hands that might cause your skin to cut easy; either Wear a glove on your non throw hand or at least start slow with the Cloud string until you see how your skin reacts.

So a few of the factors that make this string really fun can also backfire and carve string burns if you don’t take precautions and possibly wear a glove.

Also if you don’t watch your tension, the Cloud string wants to coil.
