2A Tuesdays ( a Looping Thread)

I can’t find my other one but I had setup my loop 2020 light up a bit festive.

I’m posting this here as my 2a Tuesday entry as well lol

It’s really nice to see how your journey has progressed since you started. 2 tops at the same time is such an impressive accomplishment.

Today isn’t Tuesday but in order to for tricks to get better it is 2A everyday - practicing 2A tricks in New Mexico using modded Yomega Fireballs

So I finally tried a thicker string on my looper, and hit 5 loops for the first time in less than 5 minutes. I had tried several other tweaks over the past couple of months, but thought I was just trash and needed to grind it out a lot more. So validating! I think my actual 2A journey starts now.

What are you throwing?

Happy 2a Tuesday everyone. I didn’t practice any specifics so how about the first easy thing that came to mind…

This guy:
Anyone else have one of these??

I started adjusting my setup with the basic double/triple twisting the loop around the transaxle, using vaseline on the axle, and experimenting with string length. All of that helped, but there was still a little lag in the response. Rubbing a small amount of pure shea butter onto the end of the string helped a bit more, and at this point I figured I just needed more practice.

Ultimately, swapping my thin bulk poly string for a slightly thicker Zipline Exec Lite (which I had previously cut too short for my 1A throws) made a world of difference. I guess getting the set up just right really is crucial for 2A.

I’m still waiting for the easy part.

I have one or two of those somewhere but I’d have to dig for it. So, yeah. A proper set up makes it feel a little more possible. I’d say a transaxle is going to be harder to learn with. May I send you a pm?

Hard agree.

Transaxle needs allot of help to be consistent. Specifically you need lubricant in a transaxle to loop it well.

Yes sir, of course.

I know it’s not Tuesday, but I couldn’t wait to share this fantastic mail day. After my last reply here, I had not one, but two awesome people message me with offers to try a nicer set-up. I certainly wasn’t trying to beg for yoyos, but I continue to be absolutely blown away by the generosity of this community.

This set-up is SO much better for looping than my previous one. In only about five minutes, I hit 8 loops for the first time! These feel much lighter, I’d almost swear they feel smaller in dia (my eyes say otherwise), and they’re way snappier. I can basically hop the fence forever now, and around the worlds feel perfect. I feel like - with enough practice - I could be looping with two hands in just a few months.

What color spacers do you have in those?

They look orange to me. Not sure what the usual colors are, but I’ve only heard of red and blue. If orange isn’t a thing, I can post a pic lol

Happy 2A Tuesday! Most of my limited practice time went into the YYELove giveaway last week, but I have managed to go from 8 inside loops to 19 (sloppy) ones.

Is it common for your loopers to become super aggressive when you put a fresh string on?

Yes. Many 2A players stretch the string before play. Some people hold it over their head and stretch apart, but I prefer to stretch the open loop and do a small sawing motion back and forth as I seat the string on the bearing.
