2026 CLYW x Onedrop hype thread

FWIW, RSO posted a pretty extensive BBB collection in 2021 on Instagram.

Quite a lot of variety.

I bought a Legacy Peak and absolutely love it, but I completely agree with you on the ano. They could have done a MUCH better job recreating the classic colorways. A lot of them don’t feel that close to the originals, and it comes off a little lazy considering how important those finishes were to the OG Peaks.

Especially with them being produced in the US, I feel like it should’ve been fairly easy to work with One Drop’s anodizer and get much closer to what people were hoping for.

That said, I believe it was somewhat of a rushed project, so I can understand some of the flaws. At the end of the day, I’m still really grateful we got a playable release of an OG Peak at all. The ano could’ve been better, but I’m still extremely happy with mine.

Where did the first photo of the legacy peak come from?

Okay, so what do we mean by that???.. it’s a BBB with lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots of variety!
Okay, okay… you’ve convinced me!!! (Do you realize, cont, between yourselves, how ridiculous you are, or not?)

My point is that BBB has always varied significantly. I genuinely don’t see your point here.

Edit to add:

The variety is the different treatments across multiple batches.

Makes sense

So make it exactly the same as it was 20 years ago even though it is made by an entirely different team of people, or don’t make it at all? The fact that a yoyo company from 20 years ago is even still around is impressive enough for me. Selling out proves that most people are just happy to have a chance to have a piece like this. There have been ano variations between runs as long as splash and speckle ano has been an option. Hell, there are variations between solid colors from run to run. Buy yourself all the supplies required to anodize a yo-yo and see if you are able to replicate it perfectly. Most of the ano shops that are doing yo-yos these days are not set up for this niche of a process. BT for example has been a blessing to the community. He is the first person in the US in a while to be able offer any cool splashes. For years I saw people complaining about “too many solids” or “we want more cool splashes” and then we get them and people still complain.

anything past 2015 isn’t original BBB

The BBB has always undergone many variations because it has been commissioned to various anodizers, many of which in recent years are Chinese. Don’t you understand my point!!! It’s called BLACK beep bop… what BLACK do you see in that kay??? A hundredth of its surface is black! The BBB is a BLACK color with multicolored specks… that’s just a multicolor with a few rare splashes of black… it’s like if I showed you a Jeep and told you it’s a supercar and you kept insisting but of course it is, can’t you see it has four wheels!

90 minutes of applause!!!

This convo is giving me serious Halo Campaign Evolved vibes :rofl::rofl:

I totally get you, but at the same time the question has to be asked… then why can’t CLYW anodize their own yo-yos? It’s really not an insanely difficult operation to set up. There are individuals doing great anodizing out of their garages, and CLYW has been doing good business for 20 years now. At some point I feel like that makes the argument kind of invalid, especially when anodizing and colorways have always been such a huge part of their history. :man_shrugging:

It’s multi-colored specks (or splashes*) over black. If it’s not enough black for you, so be it. But the Kai qualifies and I think it is a stretch to claim that it wasn’t worth releasing.

When you’re talking full runs, it is a huge undertaking that takes up a lot of space and time. Individuals are doing one offs and customs. That process x200+ would take an insane amount of time.

It’s also worth remembering that the Caribou store picture is only 1 example.

So with the 28 stories and the magenta/lime splash they were simply lucky! Do you really believe what you write or do you feel compelled to act as an advocate for lost causes because you’re now part of the OD team? Have you seen the anodizations by C3Yoyodesign, for example, on yo-yos sold for $30?!?!?! You are truly ridiculous!

This is true but if a company like MFD can crank out insane quality ano in house then so can the (more successful) CLYW. There’s really no excuses as to why they CANT, they just choose not to.

and who said anything about the Kay!!! It’s not worth releasing a colorway that doesn’t even remotely resemble the OG one… see that BBB or the Team Ed Legacy one.
As for that Chief, really ugly for a BBB but you know, not all donuts come out with a hole.
