No word of a lie. I’m glad our whining at the P3ak thread don’t fall on a deaf ear )
I choose to take partial credit for this happening ![]()
The guy who bought this on eBay about a month ago seeing this post today: “AM I A JOKE TO YOU, LARIBOU CODGE?”
As a collector and owner of two Peaks yo-yos
(one for sale, buy it from me, it’s “cheap”
, thank you, kisses and hugs), I couldn’t care less if the price of Peaks goes down. I collect them because I want that particular model, and I don’t pay much attention to the price, especially since many yo-yos I buy I sometimes sell for more because in the country where I live, I pay international purchase tax on credit card purchases, I pay tax on the total value paid including shipping, I pay tax when the product arrives at Brazilian customs, and to “reduce the damage to my wallet” I do raise the price of the yo-yo to be able to sell it on BSTs, but well, that’s not the point.
The point is (correct me if I’m wrong.): paying less is always better, BUT, this news could be good for scalpers, I would say. This already happens with watches, clothes, sneakers, and if it starts to become normal to produce new batches of yo-yos with prices imposed by scarcity based on age, the same thing will happen with yo-yos. I’d rather see a peak at $800 and be slow to sell, than see new peaks being sold in a matter of seconds for $150, and then, 1-2 months later, see the same item being sold for $300-400 just because it’s a peak.
caught up on this and now i’m sad lol
no peak for the general public
But they are releasing like 50 of them online later, no?
They’re going to cost 150$ a piece…..
I think so, I hope Clyw puts a limit of 1 per person. Otherwise, the “pressing F5 - update page and putting 10 in the cart” will take effect.
yeaaa i guess so but scalpers gonna be ALL over this one ![]()
To hell scalpers, we ballin’
anyone going to nats that can grab me one
i’ll include a $50 reward
i’m pretty good with online releases but idk if i’ll have it in me this time
Too much for me personally, but they’ll sell even if they were $250
Normally I would stay quiet but honestly I am shocked by both OD & CLYW at times.
Step 1: make a yoyo people want. Step 2: Stop selling it and pretty much retire it while it’s in demand.
I dont care if some collector gets butt hurt, a Summit 1 isnt worth 200+ usd and a peak 1 isnt worth 400+ and I can see why overseas markets started making them, when a demand is yelled for someone will fill the shoes.
I still love OD and CLYW but my question to both david & Steve is simple. Are you allergic to making money? Summit 1 can’t be made because you dont want thousand in sells or because collector a and b will cry?
Sorry if this sounded mean but I have been annoyed with this for a while.
100% agreed with ur point; The sheer number of people wanting Summit 1 and Peak 1 would keep Onedrop working 24/7 for several months, or pheraps year or two
In general, I think some people just want to do something new rather than continue to produce the same thing, even if it is a guaranteed seller. Both of these brands have been selling plenty of new yo-yos.
And that is compounded when the old yo-yo isn’t even particularly favored by the people who would have to dedicate their time to producing and selling it.
They are surviving without milking those products and One Drop in particular have limited machining capacity and I think they prefer to release new designs rather than keep churning out old ones.
Summits? As, original Summits? It would be nice to be able to buy one at retail since people get away with selling them for exorbitant prices these days.
