Literally the entire YoYo community reading that reply:
My guys… the people want to try this dang YoYo.
But I guess people also wanna drive expensive rare cars and wear rare expensive watches, but it’s not really supposed to be for everyone, so I guess I get it.
Ima buy one and throw it at the ground, just to spite the scalpers
JK, if I’d be lucky enough I would take great care of it lol
Reading over everything so far, the frustration is palpable, but I kinda get the “this is special” release of this, and the “we don’t want to look back anymore” of not re-running the original stuff.
The concept of this is super cool, THE original as the man intended, but idk it is a bummer it’s not the people’s Peak. Maybe that will remain the Pleak. I enjoy mine now that I’ve received another.
Based off the reaction we’re getting I think it’s a pretty safe bet there will be future runs, but this is something I want to stay special so it’s not gonna be made in bulk. As for US Nationals release…it wasn’t a snub, it was just the timing. These barely got done in time for this release, the team edition I had made on the side to gift the team are shipping directly to the Nats hotel for me to assemble there lol.
It’s not an allergy, more of a sensitivity.
Summit 1 isn’t dead forever, we just had another story we wanted to tell first. Neither of us have any issue with another run of the original Summit, and we’ve already talked about a few ideas to make a new run something cool and special. Just because we haven’t announced a thing doesn’t mean it’ll never happen. I brought back the Bonfire and Glacier Express, I think it’s clear I don’t have any specific problem with the idea of re-running older models. But OD has their own stuff to make, plus trying to keep up with demand for the Summit 2 (more coming, BTW) so bandwidth is just kinda limited. Shawn’s gotta sleep sometime lol
As much as we all love making things, we’re just a few people and we can only do so much.
I’ll have a couple of red protos of the Legacy Peak at the booth so everyone will get a chance to play with it at least. I hadn’t planned on trying to run these again until next year but looks like I’ll have to see if David & Shawn have another run in them this year. What color should they be?
I feel like Hulk Smash & BBB are the obvious ones… but I’d kiiill for a no-frills clear ano (or other solids) that we can really PLAY and not feel like it needs to be a shelf queen
that’s a sad take to read. scarcity=special feels so low effort. literally requires not doing something to increase special…impo it would have been way more special to bring a huge number of players together with their shared love for a design, but
We’re trying to do that with the P3AK, which will be releasing at Worlds. Nostalgia is fun for our 20th Anniversary but we’re still looking forwards as our default.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I just want to see both of yalls companies succeed to new levels. I will never say dont make new things, as new things are great, I just know with the high demands of yalls past yoyos, they can help fund bigger buildings and more machines.
You have no idea how much I wish there was actually enough demand to make that happen. The love y’all show is is boundless and we cannot thank you enough for it, but the reality of the money side of it is that we are a long, long way from that kind of expansion.
Steve answered this well. I’ll just add there are lots of considerations besides money and between the two companies we are 3 people so just because it hasn’t happened doesn’t it mean it won’t. We can only do so much at once. We’re also not digging into the BST looking for what’s hot as a means of deciding what we want to make.
First, thank you for taking time to respond. Yall may be 3 people but you have huge communities behind you, rooting for yall, the underdogs that took the yoyo world by storm. We want to see that fire burn brighter.
I know I’m asking too much, but I think the Maple drip would be a perfect fit.
Also, always liked how acid-washed ano looked on the first Peak. Simple and very elegant.
If we asked OD to start cranking out Legacy Peaks in quantity y’all wouldn’t see any Summit 2s until next year. Since I like Shawn and don’t want to kill him, this being a “special, small batch” project just made more sense.
There’s no perfect path forward so at the end of the day I just think “what would be cool to me?” and go with that. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive but the critiques are noted and I always do my best to course-correct as we go when I see an opportunity to make y’all happier in a way that makes sense for us.
Definitely appreciate the passion everyone brings to our brand. Couldn’t do this without y’all.
