Have I mentioned how excited I am about this?
My supplies came in yesterday .
By the way, I decided to do the embroidery floss card thing. I ordered 1000. I hope it’s enough… :
Top to Bottom
BNC - Thick and Bouncy
TH - Thin for old school throws, narrow gaps. Also for learning tricks with MANY layers.
NOLY - Nylon and 3 different poly thread weights. Suicide/Slack loops you can climb through.
CORE - Cotton/Poly mixture that is long-lasting while still soft on fingers.
UNNNAMED - 5 different poly thread weights. It’s just plain fun!
Digging the colorways!
Nothing fancy. I need more supplies to dig into my old catalog.
Excited like look of those blue\white
Just back from the hardware store. I don’t make strings on a doorknob anymore…
Can we see finished jig/rig?
So I have 38 strings , my drill broke and I also ran out of thread I’m thinking of sending it’s enough to cover the list but I’m not sure if everyone on the list is still participateing ony few folks posting
Well I, for one, have been lurking and fully intend to participate. My materials are on their way! I imagine others are in a similar boat, hopefully this puts you at ease
Yes definitely , more time to make more !
same here I need to buy more thread, wawak is pretty good when it comes to shipping it took my thread like 4 days to get here. I just need 10 more strings
Definitely still in.
Yeah, there’s still time. No rush. I’m trying to send out around March 1. So as long as I get y’all’s strings by around Feb 20, I’ll be hunky dory.
here’s the rig. 12’ 2x4 cut in half. 8’ 2x4 cut in half. 4 3in zinc screws. 8 7/8ths cup hooks. 1 3in door hinge. 30 minutes work, under 20 bucks. Boom. Now I can get (for now) 4 strings at once. Soon, I’ll expand to 6.
Still have to make measurements and figure out my “fold string in half” situation.
you can fold the strings by putting an extra hook near, or in the middle, of your rig, and use that.
That’s what I was thinking. I might put another board in the middle. That sag bugs me. Also, I gotta find my kite swivels. Fishing swivels, but because I use them on kites they’re superior…
The strings don’t need to be nearly that far apart. Mine are about 1" apart, so I can fit 5 strings across a 1/2 foot long chunk of wood. And you can have them share hooks when folding them in half.
Oh, yeah. But the hooks were in an 8 pack and I’m just doing proof of concept. “Eventually” (read: soon) I’ll be updating. First learn this, then increase efficiency.
S hooks. Dear GOD, S HOOKS!!!
