I’ve never encountered this problem before and I know that M.DeV1 said you’re all right but if you still have any other questions that nobody else can answer, then the best thing to do is to email Andre (contact@yoyoexpert.com.) Andre usually answers quite quickly because I have had loads of questions about the mystery bag/box and he answered every single one of them. This also shows that Andre is an awesome guy and he really does treasure YYE and his customers.

I’m not bent about not getting toys - I know I have more than my share anyway. I don’t think it was “selfish” of myself or anyone else to try to buy a mystery box or bag, though. And I think everyone understood from the beginning that odds were not in your favor to get anything. Personally, I figured everything was gone after about a half an hour and went to sleep. If things had gone more like Andre planned – servers stay up, items sell out quickly to those lucky enough to grab one – I don’t think there would have been many complaints at all. That’s what happened in years past. I think it’s a great thing to do every year and hope it continues. And I agree that people acting like maniacs is not YYEs fault, but I think there are a lot of reasonable people on this forum (yourself included) and some of those people were frustrated. I guess you are right, the apology wasn’t necessary. But since it was posted two threads about how great Andre and YYE are have been started and the tone of this thread has done a 180. Andre treats people the right way and I think his apology is part of that.

And may the odds be Never in my favor.

Hunger Games!!!

Nope, not hunger games. True fact.

I don’t think we are at fault for trying to buy. I think those of us who got there at the beginning would have had a greater shot at it than those who came along a half hour late if we had not spammed the system and clogged it, giving late comers the opportunity to reap the benefits too. We were our own worst enemy, not individually, but as a whole. I agree that Andre is a class act for apologizing when he was not the cause. But, I think he works so hard for us that our expectations are extremely high and in this case became unreasonable. I guess when I accept an apology of that kind (not really warranted), I think of what we could have done differently. I just wanted more people to realize that. I read the thread and some of the people who admitted to spamming the system had the nerve to complain and be upset at YYE when the server crashed. If they were part of the recipe for the crash, how can they be upset? I’d say we agree on most of it. I think the apology is the man he is, but rather than the time it took him to write all that up, we could just think of all the good he does and not demand that of him for things to be cool. The second I got booted from the system, I knew what happened and the reason why too. I guess I didn’t need that page long explanation, some did, but I didn’t. After this long, he should have earned the benefit of the doubt that he prepared for more traffic, was working diligently on this, and did not expect the behavior that caused the chaos. Who would have? Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt in the future. I guess that’s all I’m saying. I realize people were posting out of frustration, being human, but I’m glad everyone is over this now.

I also want to comment on what I thought was selfish. What I meant by that was people posting they were awake for 2 hours during this, like someone twisted their arm to stay up, and like YoyoExpert was not up late himself longer than he expected to be too. If he was a different guy, the apology might be more like:

"YoyoExpert and YoyoFactory went through great lengths to provide a great deal for all of you, in one of our most popular online sales events. Products were carefully selected, packed, and shipped to us. Yoyoexpert promoted the event in the best ways possible, as this was an exciting event, and the chance for great deals. We advertised the element of luck applicable during this event. Unfortunately, while we planned for traffic, considering the statistics of traffic during similar events, and even prepared in excess of that, unexpected spamming of the system contributed to a server crash. Due to the repeated consistent spamming of the system, it was not easily repaired, and the event did not entirely go as planned. The event was prolonged while we attempted to repair the system. I thank all of you who participated, but due to the recent activity, which caused the online store crash, and because we lost regular sales during the event due to the crash, we cannot afford to offer the mystery box promotion in the future. We apologize to those of you who visited Yoyoexpert during this, from one computer, using one browser, and viewing one browser window, as we expected. We will offer other sales events, although we will discontinue an event of this kind for the future. We realize that it was not an enjoyable event for many. Thanks to all for your continued support.

^ If I were in his shoes, if I posted anything at all, I’d post that thing, and never do this again.

I think this has been sufficiently discussed at this point.
