Only? How much was your purchase?
It was close to $300.
I’ve had $50 tariffs within the last couple weeks on $1000 orders and on $100 orders, there is no consistency at all.
So 10%, not too horrific
I think ANY tariffs are horrific.
Oh totally! I just meant in terms of wallet hit.
As of my recent imports, I’ve personally only had to pay ~10-30%, plus a fee for UPS/FedEx to fill out paperwork. This has the largest effect on small prototype orders, which used to fit easily under the de minimus exemption, but now have a small tariff and the flat paperwork fee. I also had one batch that was categorized under the wrong HS code and I was charged 90% for it.
Toys made of composite materials aren’t subject to any of the single-material tariffs and aren’t currently subject to anything other than the broad country-level tariffs.
I can’t talk specifics because it seems almost random what the tax is on each import, and sometimes I’m not charged anything. I am not ordering anything DDP either. Shrug
Since I MOSTLY do this for fun I just check that my margins aren’t negative and use the pricing I would have otherwise.
Tariffs in general suck, but they’ve been around for a long time and are needed. What sucks is when they removed the $800 threshold that most of us were typically way under for our hobbies.
Tariffs on yo-yo’s suck.
They can kiss my blue, fuzzy, YYF Balls
Tariffs are illegal according to the US Supreme Court!!
No pay no tariffs no tax
Say that to DHL who will gladly send your package back to the originator if you refuse to pay
Yeah DHL and FedEx the last couple times have given me at most 48 hours and a violent threat that they will return or a couple times threatened to literally destroy the package if I don’t pay not just the tariffs but $25 to $50 in “processing fees”
I guess ransom became legal now…
I think Brazil would strong disagree, they’ve been doing import tax like crazy for so long. Bro back in 2022 a ps4. THE FOUR controller, just THE CONTROLLER was 400!!! Dude you’re never gonna see me glaze paying more in TAX.
In 2018 trump put a tariff on steel, then that made one drop throws more expensive, like who is winning from that? If anything tax the rich, and give subsidies to startup or small business so that they will be able to make more products at a fair price
Brazil is weird when I worked at ibm back in 2010 we couldn’t import pre terminated structured cable to the Brazil based datacenter and had to train every tech to terminate cable quick. Like you had to be able to terminate both ends in less than 90 seconds or you couldn’t work the site. Everyone else got pre made cable cause they worked in a country that didn’t have silly import laws at the time
I’ve had my own run ins with Brazilian restrictions. There were things that weren’t laws but were enforced essentially as laws by the govt, like off book laws. Or… “suggestions” that are enforced with extreme prejudice. I hope to not have to mess with that again.
Company I worked with down in Brazil mentioned they even tax information, haha. Like I recall sending them a test report for DVP testing we did for them in Asia and it was taxed as imported data essentially. That always stuck with me.
