Need some advice. Added a new question pink throws

I know I’ve asked this before and of course I’m being told you know pick what you like. But I have a question. I bought my one ring yo-yo from MK1 and I love it but I’d like to buy two more yo-yos but I want to go a little bit cheaper.

I’ve been really looking at the w1ld contrast beta for a while now but I’m unsure because obviously I’ve never used it and I don’t know how it is.

I’m also looking for a finger spin but I don’t know what to go with. I would prefer metal I don’t know what brand is good for fingerspins.

And I know it’s all user preference but I’m wondering if you had $50 to $60 which yo-yo would you buy that is a regular and what yo-yo would you buy if it was finger spin.

I’m just trying to get ideas what you would buy personally

A better question is.. what do you like/dislike about the One Ring? It would help to narrow down!

Nothing. I love the one ring. The only issue with that is you can’t do finger spins of course. So my main goal is to find another yo-yo that I can finger spin.

I would like to pick up a second yo-yo just to have I’m really interested in the wild Contra but of course you know not being able to play with any of these because we don’t have yo-yo stores. We don’t have anywhere to buy this stuff. I don’t know how things are.

I don’t know if there’s a specific brand or model to choose for a finger spin that’s better than others. I’m still pretty new so I don’t really know the pros and cons of a yo-yo or what I like or dislike. The one ring is amazing though I really don’t have any complaints about it

Almost any yoyo can fingerspin, it just varies from relatively easy to absurdly near impossible based on design

Honestly, I know you have a preference for metal, but give the speedaholic xx a go.

It’s a great budget option and having a plastic throw isn’t necessarily ‘worse’ or a ‘budget’ pick. They often fall a tiny bit cheaper and the xx fits your price range. I learnt all my finger spins and dna on it and it performs as well if not better than some mono metals.

It’s also good to narrow down preferences by trying different material combinations. At least try one plastic then you’ll know for next time if plastics are a write off.

Edition Forma while it lasts.

Plus the Speedaholic is CNC machined plastic and not injection. So it feels and plays way more solid

This is good advice! It’s good to have a throw that you can accidentally smack the crap out of, and not ugly cry! Being new, you’re most certainly gonna smack into something hard, at some point. It would be better if it’s not that pretty One Ring!

I think the Offset Cheatcode is the best recommend that matches your needs in one yoyo not two..The Cheatcode is design to be a competition capable finger spin yoyo.

if you so (not to brag) have money why dont you just pick up whatever interests you? like seems silly to limit yourself to three when you have (not bragging) a lot of money and you seem to be interested in picking up the hobby.

YYFr Ultracut is a good cheep monometal. 35 bucks and you can thrash it without guilt. I still think it should have cost more when I throw it. I agree about the Speedaholic XX. I have a softspot for machined plastics and I have three of the XXs. They are also what I have for my kids to learn on. But you can go on YYE and look at the fingerspin section they should all meet the purpose for you.

edit: weird grammar

If you can find one, a retic death adder v2 and whatever plastic beater everyone suggests

I second this, yoyoFriends quality punches way above its price point. Every yoyo I’ve gotten from them is dead smooth and they have some pretty amazing colourways. This as well as they are a good 10-30% cheaper than other brands makes me hold them in high regard.

I do like The metals a lot. I just like the designs but I’ve always thought about plastic being kind of cheap and just generic I guess but The speed xx does seem like of quality yo-yo I could be interested in.

I love my one ring! Fantastic yo-yo! The only thing is for me is and I really wanted to do some fingerspins and I didn’t really think about it at the time. The one thing doesn’t do that so now I kind of need another yo-yo but I guess it would be fine to have a couple of yoyos for different play style

For what it’s worth. The one ring finger spins excellently…. It’s just a skill issue at the moment. However if you’re really dead set on a “beginner finger spin throw” just grab the yoyofriends helix. It’s like $30 and plays better than plastic and most throws in the price range and I find it to finger spin for a crazy long time

i second Forma from Edition. it’s on sale for an absolute steal and it’s a phenomenal performer that you’ll have trouble beating at that price point

personally i wouldn’t buy a yoyo specifically for a finger spin, or any single trick. i have a plastic 1up that is frankly absolute god tier at finger spins but that’s pretty much it. otherwise it’s just a yoyo. so unless finger spins are going to be your main jam, i recommend just getting the yoyos you want for other reasons and just learn to finger spin on one of those

good luck in your hunt!
