Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Project
There’s been a lot of talk about FAQs on the forum. There’s even been a couple topics. What I want to make is a collab project where we all work together to make a huge FAQ. How this is going to work is you just private message me (Mitchell) your question and answer you would like put into this topic. If you have a question, but no an answer, just private message me your question and I will stick it into the “Unanswered Questions” section so people can answer your question. If you post an answer, I will include your name so you may receive credit.

[i]Well, YYE.com is the brainchild of one Mr. Andre Boulay! He’s the current Captain of Team YoYoJam, a National Master, and the “man behind the curtain” here on our wonderful slice of cyberspace.
One of Andre’s personal visions is to, in his own words, “make the simple amazing!” To take the Art of Yo, help you realize that there’s not a bit of it beyond your reach, and then make it shine to all who see you work, yourself included!

It’s also a held belief in these parts that the yo-yo is more than just a toy, rather it is a tool that can be used in life for an unlimited amount of possibilities.

First, go ahead and register an account so you can post, but please bear just a few things in mind. Read these carefully, as they are important!
- We know you might have a ton of questions. We’re hoping if you can just make it through this very FAQ, we will have answered them all. We also know this isn’t exactly realistic, and there’s always going to be something new to learn from the community. With this said, before you ask a question please read the entirety of this FAQ, then use the search feature in the forums, and see if what you need to know has been discussed before.
We cannot stress this first one enough. Please search before posting. It cuts down on quite a bit of stress amongst the forum regulars.
Of course, don’t let this stop you from posting if you still have a question. If folks can see that you’ve been through this FAQ, and looked for an answer, they’ll be more than happy to help if you still need it. The regulars don’t bite… Much… ;-]

Keep your posts relevant and in the appropriate categories. In the General area, for example, we’d like to talk about yo-related topics. You might want to stay away from discussing cooking recipes there. Just a thought. (Bonus Tip: Yoyos are not edible. Don’t cook them.)

Should you feel the need to make a comment even bordering on anything above, just step away from the keys. Even if you’re really angry. It’s just not worth it. Chances are, you’ve looked at them on the internet, or seen friends playing with them. They come in all manner of shapes, sizes, and colors. They certainly seem to have unique and cool names. But which ones are right for you? Let’s find out…
No matter your skill level, you have a good number of options to choose from. It would actually be far too great a task to list them all here, but we’ll talk about some of the more popular choices so you’re that much closer to finding the fit that’s right for you!

Somewhere within the products lines of these companies we will find what we’re looking for. So, let’s start looking, shall we?

[i]SAMAD - I notice how people have been doing this lately. I would like to say, that no yoyo is better then the other. I really think we should have this post on the forum, so the members could refrain from posting this.
Anyway, what you will often-times see from remarks are, “No, this yoyo is better” or, “PREFERENCE!” And the correct answer is the second one. Some people may tell you the first one, because they like it more, so therefore, it won’t help you at all, because their preference is different then yours.
If you feel the need to to this, please answer a couple questions, in order for us to decide what yoyo is right for you.
- What size do you prefer?
- What shape do you prefer?
- What response do you prefer?
- Do you like to mod/maintain it?
- Does color matter?
- How does your style relate to the yoyo?
- What is your price range?
- What is your skill level?
So in conclusion, please, dont ask what yoyo is better, but instead find how it relates to your preference. [/i]
MITCHELL - Please do not go onto the forums and ask this question. It depends on your personal preference.
Answer the following questions to help us decide:
Do you want an unresponsive or responsive yo-yo?
-What style of play will you use it for?
-What size? Small? Normal? Big?
-What shape? Butterfly? Imperial? Wide Imperial?
-What weight? Heavy? Light? Normal?
-What skill level are you? Beginner? Intermediate? Expert?
-What is your price range?
-What materials? Rubber? Plastic? Metal-Rimmed? Internal weight? All metal?
-Color preferences?
-Features? Hubstacks/Synergy Caps? Dial (found on the Speed Dial and the Velocity)?
These are just a few questions that you could answer to help us decide which yo-yo would suit you best. Instead of asking “Is ‘x’ yo-yo better than ‘y’ yo-yo?,” ask “Which yo-yo would be best for me?.” By following the above, you will help out the community as well as yourself.
