anyone here have one of the protos? the shape and aesthetic looks so awesome and I’m very curious about how they feel and play
Protos are really good. It’s organic, which is always a plus. The dimple is a little too shallow to do much with for me personally, but looks cool, and adds a twinge of centerweight. There’s a pronounced IRG for thumb grinds which also helps add a little rim weight and makes it very stable. Weight is almost spot on where I like it, but unique at the same time, has a good heft to it that you feel when throwing casual, but can all of a sudden get pretty fast and light feeling on the string almost when you push it. Grind finish is phenomenal for finger grinds, and the cuts are cool because it does kind of make it look like plating, like an Armadillo. Response is amazing, not even the hint of slip, and there’s a little response bump near the bearing with an almost faded hint of a schmoove in there to keep it from being too snaggy. From a play standpoint, probably my favorite that they’ve put out from the animal series so far to be honest (Honey Badger (OG & New), Possum, Armadillo).
Killer design for certain in my opinion, for what that’s worth.

thanks for such a detailed reply! man that thing looks yummy! the cup design and cuts in the walls are so neat, and i agree they nailed the armor look. if the finish is anything like this possum, that’s even better cuz this may be one of the best, softest blasts ive ever felt
@Captrogers sry yo lol i know, it pains me to have it out of reach too. keeping my eyes wide open for the actual drop in the future, esp after reading what Collin had to say about it
