I’ve never owned a CLYW, but to me it feels very… standard. Like throwing it around, it’s smooth as heck, stays on plane even with the stock bearing. Not heavy, not light, kinda floaty, kinda fast.
I think the “nipple” lookin’ gubbin on the axle line is to strike a balance between rim weight and center weight to give it this feel. For 45 bucks, I’m pleased as punch. Not sure if I’d want to pay more however, but I’ve only thrown it around for maybe an hour?
In short, its a jack of all trades kinda deal.
Also, this popstar is freakin’ fun, I don’t understand all the naysayers now that I have one.

From the amount of letters in each word is probably ten percent off
Even so it’s still 10% off. the sixth word is clearly “off”, the fifth is the right number of letters for “percent” and the fourth is only 3 letters so likely “ten”.
I decoded mine by going to the other thread and taking the letters from the already solved clues and decoded it that way.

My popstar has 3-4 nicks in a small cluster underneath the ano in one spot but otherwise its perfect. and it plays smooth. And my Cypher is pristine.
You could try and contact YYE and see if they’ll replace it.

Use that and you’ll have the correct letters. Please refer others to this post, or the one on the first couple pages with the same order.

Less dissapointed about the popstar, more dissapointed about my cypher having the worst death grip bearing seat I’ve ever had on any yoyo(and thats a lot of yoyos) and that it vibes and has a horribly loud bearing and I can’t fix it…

my popstar and cypher are smooth on the string, but the cypher has a little bit of vibe on the finger test. Does anyone know how to fix it?and also, when u screw together ur cypher, does it make this loud squeaking sound when it is almost in, or is it just mine?
Did you try putting it in the freezer for a short while and then trying wiggling out the bearing with a removal tool? I think you could use a bic pen tube as a removal tool if you don’t have a proper one.
So I just opened my pack and was avoiding the website because I wanted to avoid spoilers. The Popstar isn’t bad. I’m extremely disappointed with the Cypher. The bearing absolutely sucks, and the yoyo doesn’t vibe, it WOBBLES! Finger grinds? Forget about it. Love the shape, but I can’t live with the wobble. I thought YoyoFactory prided itself on quality control??
What kind of pliers are you using to get it out? Mine was pretty tight, but I got it out using the middle part of a pair of pliers like this this: http://www.orbitals.com/self/survey/chain/big/pliers.jpg

These reports of poor QC on the Cypher are confusing me, and making me feel really lucky. I hope you guys get something resolved, because it really is a pretty great throw. Mine is completely free of any vibe, and the feeling strikes a really nice balance between float, speed, and stability.

I tried to take it out for about half an hour, I even tried putting a little bit of lube in the bearing seat to try to get it, no cigar. It doesn’t even wiggle a bit, I grip it as hard as I can but my pliers just slide around on the side of the bearing. I use this thing to get bearings out all the time, and a lot of them are from death grip bearing seats, but this is the only time I havn’t been able to get out the bearing now matter how hard I do it.
