Physics.
The more weight you have farther away from the center of the spinning the more stable it’ll be, meaning that it’ll be more likely to stay spinning that direction and be easier to start spinning straight. Yoyos with high rim weight generally have high stability and thus tend to be more forgiving.

that’s what I thought, more rim weight means a higher moment of inertia which means more angular momentum, but its harder to get spinning. thanks
