yoyo sound help

Hey for an early x-mas present my mom bought me an orange and black superstar (It is a great yoyo) any way whenever i throw my it sometimes it has a normal sounding spin then recentaly when i throw it, it has a higher pitch sound and it is kinda scaring me idk if it is hurting the yoyo or not can i get some help on what it is i dont want to break my brand new expencive yoyo.

Does the bearing/yoyo spin as long as it once did?

I am assuming you never took the bearing’s shields off or anything in which case it is most likely the sound that all bearing will make from time to time. The inside of the bearing has balls in it running in a little groove we all call the “race” when these balls spin/roll over time they will wear down, which is normal, it is actually your bearing breaking in which is a good thing. If the bearing is not spinning freely then I would suggest you have your parent’s help you clean your bearing by soaking it in a non-water based solvent such as lighter fluid or mineral spirits, which can and will break down any gunk that may be inside of your bearing inhibiting their movement. There are some really great tutorials of how to do it properly on the forums here, I will edit my post and throw a link of the one I used when I first learned to clean bearings in here. I hope this helps and you have fun with that wicked yoyo of yours
