Bearing suddenly gets extremely loud on a random throw, despite having cleaned it

Hello,

I’ve recently gotten a One Drop Panorama.

I’ve cleaned it literally as of this morning and lubed it, but on a random hard throw, it is suddenly very loud. This happened around 2-3 days ago, which was a day after I got the Panorama at all.

Otherwise, it spins fine on a chopstick for around 10-ish seconds.

Is there something wrong with the bearing? Should I clean it again?

Cheers.

I’m having this problem as well. I just got my sprout and the bearing already came bad so I replaced it with a brand new VIP bearing and it was playing fine for a little while. But after a day this VIP bearing is just loud. It is just super noisy. Every other bearing I have that’s in all my other yoyos are quiet ish compared to this new VIP bearing I just got. It’s actually annoying

I cleaned my VIP bearing even though it was brand new and it was quiet for maybe a day and now it’s like super loud. I’m almost wondering if I need like half a drop of oil to keep it quiet

nope!

nope! just play through it. especially if it’s a od flat, they’re very loud sometimes but if you just keep playing they generally dislodge the piece of whatever is causing it and it quiets down again. loud but not responsive=keep playing, loud + responsive=clean it. this goes for non od bearings too. lube goes a long way to keeping them quiet

Thanks Tom. Appreciate your wisdom. I’ll keep playing. It’s not responsive or playing materially different, so I’ll take your advice and just keep throwing!

Sometimes I get that after a particularly bad floor hit. The next couple throws will be really loud, then it gets quiet again. No idea why it happens: alignment issue? small metal shavings?

But the bearing keeps spinning, so I keep throwing
