Yoyo holsters

Galaxy. I got it so the inevitable nicks n dings won’t show. I have a 2nd one in the package. I slammed it on the ceramic tile floor at the laundromat this morning.

That looks great! I enjoyed my dv888 but those edges do some serious damage to eyeballs :joy:

My dad transferred all our family super 8s to DVDs! Unfortunately there were no yoyo reviews in them. Look at what I found from my old security guard days! It can hold a 55mm nicely but nothing larger…belt loop on back. I’m wearing it to work tomorrow!

What is it meant for?

S/O to Spyder for putting a holster right on the pants! What an amazing brand incorporating yoyo like that. (Just kidding, but I mean it does work lol)

I know this is an older thread but I thought I would share. This is my first post to the forum.

I loved yoyo-ing in grade school, but now I’m 33 y/o engineer with my first kiddo and thought it would be a fun and inexpensive hobby (that doesn’t involve screen time) to get back into. I was fascinated that yoyo tech has changed so much and have purchased my first few modern yoyo’s (Yoyofriends AOE, Luftverk Plastic Fulvia, Duncan Windrunner) and I am having fun learning unresponsive play.

I wanted a way to carry my yoyo around on my backpack, but I wasn’t crazy about the yoyo holders sold by yoyo brands. They just seemed a bit frumpy. I’m also an EDC guy and am pretty handy with paracord.

I whipped up this simple leash with one piece of paracord and one small carabiner I had laying around. I used a common cobra weave that loops around the starting loop, and I am quite pleased. The leash slides opens over the edge of the yoyo and tightens up when hanging to hold the yoyo and contain the string. Subtle, clean, simple, strong, and no need for a spring toggle. And looks pretty sick IMO.

If any of yall have some paracord laying around, give it a shot! Let me know what you think.

overall length - a little over 7 inches
end loop - about 1.75 inches

If anyone tries making your own based on this idea, post a photo!

I’ve really enjoyed reading the posts in this community. Cheers!

I am kind of in a leather-working-phase right now and I have some old belts laying around. So there maybe something happening…

I actually just made one for the first time yesterday.

Two things I did with mine were to use a thinner inner paracord (the white one) so the holster would slide open and closed more easily, as well as having the carabiner attached as close to the yoyo as possible so it doesn’t swing around like crazy if you move around a lot/suddenly while using it.

The outer section of white paracord with the clasp on it could definitely be made shorter but I went longer so I could run a counterweight between it. So that’s not also swinging around and making noise.

These might be non issues for you, but I thought you might find them interesting. Lots of people have made some pretty different paracord holster designs which is pretty cool.

Couldn’t agree more.
I did something similiar on my one. I also used the smallest reasonable carabiner I could find to further reduce the bouncing.

It sits super snug below the belt.

Can’t compete with your colors though. :fire: :rainbow:
I might use some of this cord for a happier one.

I like your point about having the carabiner as close to the yoyo as possible.

Also accommodating the counterweight is slick :+1:

Great work! Looks awesome!

they’re pretty fun and easy to make! i agree with the others in cinching the yoyo as close as possible to the carabiners so that the yo swings less. i didn’t have a cord lock on me at the time so i made one with a separate paracord using the same cobra weave

I’m sure it’s been shared on the forum somewhere before, but just use a hair tie:

I have shared my various yo-yo accessories in this thread.

But this is my newest build which works with pretty much all yo-yos but is optimized for high wall.

I call it the trad holster. This is the Spellcaster :sparkles:Edition.
