Looks like yoyoformula borrowed the design from @MinerJ honeybee model for there new 3d printed beginner yoyo without attributing anything to the original.
This of course isn’t the first time they have been accused of stuff like this

Even if some things were changed, there is clear inspiration and the license prevents distributing even remixes, and no commercial use without permission.
Looks like they stole @antman’s shelf as well.
The question is, is there a way to resolve this? A statement is great, but it doesn’t change the fact that YoyoFormula is making and selling bootlegs. I don’t think a lawsuit is the way to go either
Well… hopefully no one buys?? Put them on blast?? Call the internet police?
Wow. That seriously messed up!
There’s not much that can be done, especially since they’re based in China, where digital licenses are meaningless. Basically the only recourse for these things is just calling them out on it publicly, which has now been done. I reached out to them privately through social media and was going to wait for a response before calling them out publicly. We’ll see what they say, if anything.
I’m honestly not bothered by this on a personal level, I don’t sell my designs, and I make them with the intent that people are able to use them freely for personal use (not for commercial use). But I also wanted to call them out mostly to help prevent them and others from stealing other peoples designs in the future.
But, I’m pretty sure the D1 Angel is both the first and last Yoyoformula throw that I’ll ever own.
And a big thank you to the community for both bringing it to my attention (special shoutout to @Adrielecc ), and to being amazing and supportive!
Sadly the statement for awareness is all that can be done
Definitely a derivative rather than a direct copy. From what I can tell, the only changes were adding an aluminum spacer for the bearing to seat against, and changing the response holes from hexagonal to round. The aluminum for the bearing seat is a good idea (especially for the MR85 version since those bearings have a paper thin inner race), but why would they not keep with the honeycomb theme for the response holes?
The profile looks slightly modified as well
Could be. Hard to tell based on the angles of the photos.
What’s next?
Pancake Tramplers?
Jokes aside, I hate to see this
You can file an intellectual property report against their facebook posts about the design and possibly get it taken down. It’s some work but it’s also the best route to do anything about it. And it makes it more difficult for Yoyoformula to do similar stuff in the future without the danger of losing their social media accounts here.
And just like that I’m designing the pancake trampler in my head.
This was truly what I was hoping to see after reading the previous statement, lol.
Yeah it’s definitely happening now.
WOW… That’s rude.
Hello, it’s Rogert with YoYoFormula here to show you the latest hit yoyo craze, the Pancake Trampler. Does it play as good as the Waffle Stomper? Of course not, but it portrays a classic breakfast food with at least 79% more accuracy, and isn’t that what yoyo is really about? Why settle for waffles when you can have pancakes?! It even has glow in the dark butter, does your waffle stomper do that?
