We have the YoYo pet peeves and the occational hot takes thread (lol), how about a YoYo chill moments thread?
What are those little funny moments that make you smile while yoin’?
I always get a chuckle when I hit a bind a little weird and it does a little “burn out” before coming back up the string. I guess I need to change my strings more often lol
I also like when I hit that flow state groove, of course lol.
I also enjoy having my collection in the living room so I get to see it quite regularly when I’m home.
…the Stoopid Capitalism Day Tree from RCS. I display it in a cabinet until the month of December. But it is in regular rotation for the whole month. The way it plays, and keeps you guessing makes me giggle like fool, every single throw. I find it chill ironically because it has no chill.
The one time I took a video of me doing a DNA trick, I missed the catch and the yoyo flailed around in a nest of string as I tried to tug it back to my hand. Still makes me smile every time I watch it
Probably not post intent, but my furnace failed Friday night. Repair part expected today, so entire Northeast Ohio sub-zero weekend has been beyond chill.
In forum post spirit - A couple chill, One with Nature yo-yo moments from my file archives.
Any time I can teach someone something I crack a smile and cheer.
The look on someone’s face new to the hobby when the YoYo we just started learning on becomes there’s cause they picked it up quick and obviously had that spark.
Any time I land something I haven’t yet. That just instant rush of joy.
Looping without much attention while in a call as a fidget.
Any time we have yoyo club and anyone shows up. Just instant happy being able to YoYo’s with others and share the hobby.
Was practicing ping pong and just accidentally made up this weird anti chopstick catch the YoYo through the off hand hoop thing. Not onto a sting but just trough an opening, weird to explain
Don’t think I can replicate it but the jump to bucket thing felt friggin awesome and made me smile lol
On Tuesday I met a couple kids who were hooked on the tricks I was doing and wanted to learn. By the time I had to leave, the older of the two was starting to get binding down. He asked if I could give him a yoyo to keep practicing with. I told him I’d think about it.
On Thursday I came back and continued to teach the older one how to bind. He was getting more consistent. He had to leave early so I told him I had considered his request and decided to give him my old Summer Solstice along with my Pleak and some string. He was to the moon and back. He was gonna go home a binge yotricks videos to learn all he could. I probably won’t ever see him again, or if he’ll actually keep practicing, but I’m satisfied knowing that it’s possible that I gave him a potential outlet and hobby to enjoy.
Whenever I leave the house I stare (and drool ) at it for a minute or two deciding which one to take with me. I probably only play that yoyo for one or two minutes anyway so it doesn’t even make sense. But I secretly like those moments.
Another chil moment:
I think I can only do easy tricks. But whenever there is a yoyo meeting and we teach each other tricks and a better thrower than me struggles with my trick, it gives me a sense of achievement that apparently I’m not entirely a noob at this.
Last chil moment:
Whenever a yoyo binds too slippy or too snaggy and I try and fix that with different responsive pads or by modding the yoyo and it works, that makes me super happy. Same as fixing other peoples yoyo’s and bearings during yoyo meetings.
