Have any of you tried the Bassalope? I’d love to know what it’s like.

It’s lots of fun, I’ve played both the small and large bearing version. It was designed to be kind of an in-between at the time, was larger than the Wooly Marmot but smaller than the Peak. Very comfortable and has that "Old School” feel, but also pretty light and agile compared to others around its time, with an almost mid-wall. The C-bearing version was created to give it a little more casual play and less bite on the response.
