Whats the best time to clean my yoyo bearings
When they become responsive
when it stops working or screams louder than you can tolerate. otherwise ignore bearings
I used to obsess more about bearing maintenance and now I realize I was probably doing more harm by messing with them rather than just playing through it.
If they get loud and don’t quiet down after a few minutes of play, they might just need a little lube.
If they seize up or become responsive, they probably need a little cleaning. I try to avoid using solvents. My method is to lube them, play for a little bit, then take the bearing back out and use the paper method to wipe out the excess gunk, then blow out the bearing with some computer duster. That usually does the trick. If it’s super gunky, dropping it in a solvent like lighter fluid, acetone, or high percentage alcohol and shaking it up for a few minutes will loosen it up.
ehhh i just use soapy water and brush, then dry it with acetone
