I’m a newbie looking to round out my collection. I have my all-rounder’s and am now looking for things that do something really well, or maybe a design that is different. I’m talking about categories such as grinding, pocket, responsive, wooden, wide, horizontal, etc… To be helpful to newbies like me, it should be yoyos that are currently available. What ever category that is important to you.
Here are mine. (From a newbie perspective so I am only listing 4.)
Beginner: YYF - Replay
Pocket: One Drop - Deep State (The first yoyo that I liked so well that I bought two.)
Budget: B Grade YYF – 888 (I have gifted two of these. Wish they came responsive.)
Responsive: Doctor Popular - The Weekender
Beginner: YYF Arrow
Pocket:OD Deep State or the stainless steel yoyo that was being sold at NY State Yoyo Contest
Budget:YYF Horozon
Responsive: Duncan Proyo
…as a side note…I absolutely understand why You would say You wish 888’s (real 888’s not that other one) come responsive. The kid You give it to can’t get it to come back and it sours their first touch. Maybe wish they came with 2 different thickness bearings…once whomever You gift a responsive 888 learns what to do with…then it’s only responsive? That would be a tough pill to swallow.
Looping. Raiders. Tried that 2020…tried and paid for everything…modded them to hell and back…will stick with modded Raiders.
Inexpensive. 888gt. Spend the extra 20 and skip the Skyline
When the dollar is sooper tight. buy a Skyline 888. It will not let You down
Pocket. An 888 Ti Powder coated with Dif Koncave, Peekaboo5 hubstack bearings…and some ricestacks<—This is just an exercise of throwing an insane amount of cash to get something that’s perfect. Thank GOD it came out perfect…I could have been screwed.
Showpeice…I really would like to see what other people are putting together.
