I would love to know what you thought was compelling in the past couple of years!
I hate tower tricks!
Most yo-yos are monotonous, and don’t begin to interest me.
Unresponsive > Responsive. Though only by a slim margin.
“Cry ‘Unresponsive is superior!’ and let slip the dogs of war.” - Paraphrased from Shakespeare, with some minor edits…
they are the same red. same pigment, same ammount. only difference is blast / unblast / lighting / camera white balance + setting
Modern yo-yo tricks are boring. Seriously tired of watching the yo-yo hop from one string; or side to another as the string is twisted and tortured into ever more complex and unattractive noodles and knots; only to be miraculously and equally uninterestingly unwound into a simple trapeze.
…Yawn.
We should replace the current contest format with a who can do the highest hook contest.
I see we’re well on our way toward the inevitable locking of the thread now that we have the usual “oh no, Chinese manufacturing” complaints coming out from the usual culprits making dubious claims.
Takeshi was robbed of his 1a win in 2018. I’ll just say Evan is good but I’ve never seen an original trick he’s made that I wanted to learn. Takeshi had lots of original tricks I tried to learn.
He hit way cleaner too. Not to take anything away from even but his nats from 2018 was way better.
I think there should only be two forum rules.
- Forum Topics are limited to descriptions of yoyos.
- Nouns are the only words allowed.
Don’t clean your bearings, just play fixed axle. ![]()
My hot take: I don’t care about new yoyos anymore. Every new release is just a clone of something that has already been done maybe with some minor tweaks or some gimmick. I get it, yoyo producers gotta eat and collectors gonna collect but nothing is truly innovative these days.
My favorite yo-yo was made almost 10 years ago and “can handle anything I throw at it”.
Took the words right out of my brain. ![]()
My favorites seem to be at least 10 years old.
YoYo overall would be more popular if it had a better name.
