Yo-yo Adjectives

So one thing I’ve noticed in the world of yo-yoing is our lack of terminology when it pertains to describing the feel/play of a yo-yo. I thought it would be a fun idea to make a list of words that can be used to describe how a yo-yo plays. I’ll start it off with three adjectives that I’ve heard time and time again. Let’s get some more words added so we can describe our throws in greater detail!

  1. FLOATY
  2. STABLE
  3. POWERFUL

Most adjectives are memes that don’t mean a thing. Here are some I hear to describe the way yo-yos play. They’re all kind of annoying because the definitions are so loose and usually meaningless. (I’m definitely guilty of using adjective like these to describe the way yo-yos play)

Bricky
Tech (as an adjective)
Agile
Nimble
Quick
Fast
Slow
Maneuverable
Smooth
Sluggish

Thwackability

It may just be me, yeah probably only me lol, but I prefer a comfortable yo-yo that makes a nice “thwack!” sound when it returns to your hand. So yeah, throws got to have thwackability.
