wooden yoyo

hey iwas thining of making a wood yoyo, can u use a metal lathe and a file???

Well, although I know nothing about machining, I think that someone who does know something about it would still be confused.

Your thread title says “Wooden Yoyo”, but you asked about making a metal one. Please choose which one. They’re very different, from what I understand.

ii mean wooden…sorry im really tired, i put 18+6= 12 on a math paper this morning

Im not really sure you are old enough to be trying something like this.

If you think otherwise, reply back and give me an idea of what wood you want to use, but basically i think this might be abit over your head sorry mate.

well tom kuhn made a tutorial on it but what kind of wooden yoyo fixed axel or bearing, and if all fails ask kyo or icthus they know more about lathes i only use a drill. And you can use a metal lathe to cut wood and it will be alot more accurate then a normal wood lathe. And vise versa… i think.

Fixed axle, and cheap.

im 15, can use drill press lathes, and the list goes on and on
i can handle a wooden yoyo
im trying to decide between wood and metal

you should start with wood then derlin and then metal practice first and use proper safety methods

i do, always

are there any plans like this to make bearing yoyo or whaterver its called instead of a fixed axle?

fixed axle is one thing. the precision is minimal needed. Bearing is another thing. It has to be perfect!

yeah, im deciding… how long can u get a fixed axle to sleep???

What is a drill press lathe?

Do you mean a drill press and a lathe, or a modified drill press?

Regardless for wood, to my understand, the best way to machine it is with a woodlathe.

you can use a metal lathe its just more precise and wood lathe is cheaper but its alot of eye balling work

Just for you Skip.

thanks, i mean lathe and drill presss…but we do have a drillpress/lathe like the picture, but it hasnt been run in a while

Cheers Ic.

Looks like one stuck on the other to me haha.

Ill stick with my generic lathe and occasional ghetto mod styLnZ

I like my old school lathe too. I’ve never used one of those but it looks like too much going on.
I have a pic of my lathe somewhere. I’ll look for it.

This is what my lathe looks like but it has the actual base that goes with it. Not a table. lol Brian aka Apetrunk aka 1111000100110010010010101 has seen it.
