Wood-z response / string replacement (fixed axle strings and response in general)

I’ve been using my Wood-z for about an hour a night for the week or so since I got it and tonight I noticed that the response isn’t really grabbing much or nearly as well as it was (regardless of the string tension). Is it possible the string (Zipline Kott’n) is worn out already? It looks fine to me. Should I try some Burts Bees in the axle loop? Thanks!

If it were me, I’d try rubbing some 120 grit sandpaper on the inside walls of the axle, but not the axle itself.

Thanks Glen. So sand the walls around the axle on the dark color threaded plug or sand the maple walls?

I wouldn’t sand the maple walls, just the inside where the axle is.

Do not sand much though because you are effectively widening the gap. Just lightly.

@Lido You just want to make the inner wall of the walnut rough, you don’t want to loose material. I typically just use a finger nail file with a couple of passes.
