Why do I see some red and grey alerts?

I’m just curious what does the color coding stand for?

Forum topics are divided into categories. The categories are color coded. If you click the “go to another topic or category” icon next to your avatar in the upper right hand corner you can see a list of the categories and their color coding.

Red=unread
Grey=unread old

From what I can gather the red alerts are new posts that you haven’t seen yet, and the grey alerts are posts you haven’t read yet.

Unread new versus unread old.

Old means the posts were created before your last visit, they are not new, just unread. Could be years old in theory.

So does that mean if I log in and see the posts that are red, but log out before I read them they will be grey the next time I log in?

Unless a new one arrives in that time, yes
