I like the parallel orientation because it is in harmony with the intrinsic radial nature of a yoyo body.
You mention not wanting to be like TMBR. Fallen 44 has been doing the parallel SpectraPly now for a couple of years. There is even a YYE edition

Fallen 44 have done it for a while, yes.
I really donāt like the look of theirs at all.
I donāt care for their aesthetic either, especially now that they engrave everything.
In fact, I like nothing about their yoyos.
Well⦠I like that they use wood.
Same here, Iāll go with the old adage āIf you canāt say anything nice, donāt say anything thing at allā and Iāll leave it at that.
Iāll say that they are a unique offering in the fixed axle market. They have their own aesthetic and horror/ satanic theme. No-one else has that.
One thing to consider is how the yo-yo appears when spinning. The horizontal ply colors will blur together when spinning while the parallel ply color will look the same. I donāt have a strong opinion either way, but i might be worth considering depending on what colors of SpectraPly are available, and what composite color they create when they blur together.
I noticed the blur happening in some of @edhaponikās videos when he uses his rainbow Spectra EH and blue/purple Spectra EH, and thatās what made me think about it.
I prefer layers parallel in general, but Bloodcells look better when the layers of the spectra are horizontal, since the dimple desing makes such a unique presentation for it.
The answer is both. Theyāre both great. I donāt think it should be either/or. If you must make only one, then horizontal is the traditional choice⦠but imo traditions were made to be broken!
Horizontal (TMBR) orientation wins easily!
I think Iāll make my next Bloodcell like that one.
I like this idea. Both look great, always good to have some variety.
I like how horizontal looks on the sides, but overall prefer parallel.
