What's the cheapest yoyo ever used to win a modern competition?

A post in another thread about champions using yoyos ranging from $20 on up got me wondering: To your knowledge, what is the least-expensive yoyo ever used to win a modern competition? Who won the competition?

Pictures and video links are a plus!

Thanks, all.

Jensen at worlds with the Northstar.

Would love to see other videos of others winning with cheap throw!

this, i think…

but then again it’s jensen, he can win with anything…

I believe Takeshi Matsuura won Worlds 5A with a Lyn Fury.

loopers are usually very cheap and oh look… there’s a whole category for them hahaha

I think Tyler Severance used a freehand to win 5A worlds, correct me if I’m wrong.

freehands, throwmonkeys, pandas, some of the plastic yoyojams, etc. have all been used to win major (national or world) titles.

Kyle

Tyler Severance with the Freehand Zero in 2007.
Hiroyuki Suzuki used a Speed Maker to win a Japanese Contest.

Speaking about Jensen rocking with any string tricks yoyo i remember he once used the Velocity for the prelim of Canadian Nats 2010, then the protostar for finals
And in one of the vid he made with Chase (uploaded on their channel but deleted eventually) i literally saw him doing horizontals with a Velocity.

Back to the question, i believe it’s the FHZ of Yuuki back in 2002

I remember that video, man I wish that was still up

Are you sure you didn’t figuratively see him doing horizontals with a Velocity? ;D

Things like this just prove it’s the warrior, not the weapon.
