What was your first yoyo?

Idk if it was my very first one but definitely one of them. Dad’s old slightly melted Butterfly. The axle isn’t really attached firmly enough to play anymore and I wouldn’t really play it anyway so it’s a historical/shelf piece for me.

Some ninja turtle fixie that was shaped like Donatello. Didn’t know how to use it so I just swung it around over my head like a grappling hook.(later I had a yoyo ball…not a yoyo but made me feel cool)

Superglue that bad boy, that’s what I do if a cap swapping newer and older parts that don’t fit completely right. That said, I also have that exact butterfly that is also just for display due to loose halves lol

Oh yeah I’d glue it if I would throw it but honestly I have a ton of modern butterflies that are perfect. I stock up when target gets them because they’re the perfect give away to strangers yoyo for $3.

My first was a FH2 with the rubber weight rings under the caps. I modded it over the years with some spacers and additional weight rings, though gave it away to one of my friends recently.

Really wish I had taken some more pictures beforehand though.

I was also on the 90’s train. My dad had an old Duncan Butterfly and taught me some tricks (rock the baby, walk the dog, etc.)

When I picked up the hobby for real as, an adult, I started with a Sage from YoTricks and stuck with that for a few months to make sure I was into it before buying more yoyos.

Once I knew there was no turning back, I got the One Drop Top Deck as my first truly modern yoyo. Still my favorite after all these years.

I dabbled with an imperial for like 5 minutes and quit. When I came back to yoyoing for real later, it was a YYF northstar. Unfortunately the axle broke through and had to toss it. Still would buy one if theres one in good condition

First ever yoyo: Likely either a Duncan Imperial or Butterfly (or some cheap party favor)

First serious throw (not that I knew what to do with it): Yomega x Brain

First throw that got me back into yoyos after, oh so long: Blue Duncan Butterfly from Cracker Barrel

First throw that cost more than just the mere presence of two nickles: Duncan Butterfly XT

First unresponsive: Magic V6 or V8

First throw that cost more than $20: Toybania Stoopid (According to my records)

My very first was a MYY V3. As I learned more tricks I became disenchanted with it so I got a 1UP, which I broke after less than two weeks. So I decided to get a Summer Solstice, which I still have.

Red Duncan imperial I bought from KB Toys after getting denied a brain yoyo (lacked funds, birthday was coming up and was told to wait and see)

My first ever yoyo was a spectraply fixed axle woody that was gifted to me in the late 80’s.

First yoyo I bought with my own money was a Yomega Fireball, circa 1992.

I had a Duncan Butterfly for the longest time but my first real yoyo when I got into yo-yoing was a yotricks sage.

My first was a blue imperial-shaped yoyo with a green alligator on it that I got (for free?) at a festival as a child. I don’t know if I ever used it.

The first yoyo I bought & actively learned tricks with was a blue Yomega Alpha Wing.

My first yoyo was a Duncan Imperial yoyo in orange had during 90’s..in college, than moved on to a Duncan eXit8 and Bumblebee..
