If you don’t have much experience yet, working on smoothing out a breakaway is actually extremely crucial, as a sloppy throw makes for a vibey, unstable spin which makes everything harder

As far as tricks with a barely capable YoYo? Have you downloaded the Skill Addicts app? That starts off with easier classic stuff that can be done with a basic YoYo (the early stuff can be skipped to start with unresponsive stuff if you’d like, once your Ascent shows up)
