What string do you recommend for the unparalleled flashback? The yoyo gap is 4.32 mm / 0.17 inches.
I´m using bad wolfe slicc goldilocks but it seems too thick. I also tried bad wolfe slicc slimm and I found it to be very very thin. I wish Bad wolfe could make something between these two.

So I have this same issue with OD throws with a 4.32mm gap. Its really hard to find that right string. I’m a huge fan of legitstrings trip wires poly nylon blend and switch off between thin and normal depending on the throw. I also like some of the markmont strings I suggest getting the trial pack so you get everything to try the differences. I also recently got this nylon poly blend called sinew from a small maker from canada i really like and its perfect for that 4.32 mm gap. I think when manufacturers make that gap they have kitty string players in mind (just a thought). I do like badwolfeco nylon for that gap, and know the feeling. I would suggest giving legitstrings a try as they are really good (maybe you will like them for a different throw if you don’t like for 4.32mm gap)
You can also try to change the pads accordingly…
I am also curious what others use for that gap

I think the smallest gap yoyos I’ve played have been a Kodiak (4.2) and Akita (4.35) and I found them to both play best with Kitty normal. Kitty fat snags very easily on them if you aren’t being careful. That was with normal snow tires on both though, so if your response isn’t as grippy you might find fat to be preferable.

I liked Kitty fat on both of those (Akita and Kodiak) even with fresh pads, but especially once the pads were broken in. Though tbf snaggy response has never really bothered me that much, I’ve always taken it as a bit of a challenge.

I’ve been thinking about that recently, maybe making a size in between Slimm and Goldilocks and another size between Goldilocks and Dummy Thicc. I’m not sure if it’s something I want to add as an option on every colorway, but I’d definitely be down to make something for a custom order. My Goldilocks thickness is a little bit on the thick side of “standard,” because I think a lot of standard strings are a little bit too thin for most yoyos. But there’s a bit of wiggle room between my sizes where I could definitely make something in between. It’s tough to get the colorway exactly perfect for different thicknesses, since they have different amounts of thread, but I’ve been experimenting with different thicknesses so idk, maybe I can add that to my shop as an option for custom orders or something. Definitely hit me up if you want something special, I really enjoy doing custom orders when I can.

I think most strings that are about as thick as Kitty Normal would work, like the Zipline Alphaline, Sochi Normal, OT Normal, YYSL Type X and MFD Vines Normal.

I hear you. Nylon especially can be tricky to get matched with the right gap/response yo-yo and vice versa. For the Flashback, I’ve been using Zipline EP 20/20 (scales color if that matters). I don’t remember if I tried something thicker or thinner first, but I’ve been using them together for a while so it must be working well.

Yes, the response is grippy. I think I need something in the size of kitty normal. But I like strings that last longer than kitty. .

The EP 2020 are poly/nylon blend that’s “not thick” according to their site so if you don’t have these probably any regular thickness string should be fine.

I’ll have to check the price on those shipping options, unfortunately USPS tends to be way cheaper than other options for international mail but I’ll look into it and let you know what I find. Might be worth paying more if it takes that long to arrive!
I find also the alpha line series goes well with small gaps. Feels for me right in the middle between thin and thick.

Thanks. I have the alphaline. Did not tried on the flashback yet because its a little grippy and larger than normal kitty. But I´ll give it a try. I like this string is some other yoyos.
thanks for recommending my brand man. with that being said the color of string could also impact, not much but it still can, the thickness of the strings. a white string with no dye will be thinner then a lets say a dark pink which has a bunch of dye in it.
