I’ve flagged like 15 threads today… the edit history is also bizarre on all of them, like an automated online help bot went rogue lol

Saw one earlier where they were looking for love. A little creepy looking back at it…

And embarrassing when I realized they weren’t a real person.

I run another forum on this same platform and we’re getting a ton on there lately too.

Yes, they were coming so fast we couldn’t keep up with knocking them off. Had to be a bot. I think we deleted 60+ accounts and took down about 70+ spams posts over the last 2 days. Prior to that it was 6-7 a day I think.

Heads up… if you have a “regular” trust level on this forum you can instantly de-list spam posts by flagging them. It only takes one user with this trust level to do this.

I’ve probably removed like, 6 of them alone today lol

Good to know! I assumed there wasn’t much I could do as the average user. Because of Australian timezones I’m on at weird times so I’ve seen a few last for a while due to low activity.

I’ll chip in where I can, already delisted one

Ps. Most of them seem either copy-pasted or like Markov sentence chains at a precursory glance. I think it might be an ai doing some of crappery. Idk if this helps but :person_shrugging:

I dunno if you’re still with Discourse, I’m kinda curious if the bot spam issue is something the platform as a whole has been battling with more lately. The past few days have been kinda constant.
