What kinda tricks should I know to be prepared for a contest?

I havnt been yoyoing long but I would like to know what kind of tricks i should work on to do well in a competition?

Good ones. No, but seriously you should start making up your own ones and not any off this site. The tricks here are just to give you a really good start in yoyoing. Plus it’s really fun making up new tricks.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread but,… When you say “make up your own” How do you know if it’s not already a trick that someone else has made up? Obviously no one could ever know every trick out there. Also how do you know that what your making up as a trick is actually trick worthy and really not just a simple/complex variation of something else out there already?

Well seriously, at least you made your own trick and not knowing that someone else made it.

So basically as long as you have your originality, you’re all good.
