What is a yoyo you just don't get?

What is a yoyo that is generally praised that just doesn’t check the boxes for you? Mine personally would be my standard release g2 banshee. While I can objectively look at it and say it is gorgeous, it’s smooth, and plays very well for some reason it just wasn’t the bees knees for me. Maybe this was a case of overhype because I for sure was expecting something to blow my mind after reading all reviews on the banshee. However once I got it probably stood zero chance to deliver to the standards I had put it at. Now when transitioned to titanium whole perspective shift and I love it. I mean this post was no disrespect to Jake or anyone who loves the banshee, was more just something I was thinking about when looking over my collection.

For whatever reason, I don’t really like the Dang 2.

I really want to love my Duncan Counterpunch but it’s annoyingly snaggy. Different kinds of strings and changing pads makes no difference. I have never had another yoyo that was so snaggy. It’s probably ME but I do not have the problem with anything else. Also, my brand new YYF MVP. After no more than 1 hr of throwing since Friday, this morning it flew off the string and landed across the room. The string was chewed right through. It was a Markmont string - from the same batch I’ve had on my Top Deck for over a month. I doubt I got a dud string.

I’ve never really clicked with the ILYY Noctu. A unique design and a striking look, but it just didn’t click with me, and I love ILYY yoyos too.

I didn’t click with the Orca. It felt fat and too heavy for me.

That could be the first time I’ve heard a bad word about the Chief! To each his own though!

Delta the exact same way. Banshee ss and ti are amazing. But banshee just seemed like it was missing so many things. I think it’s a GREAT yoyo dont get me wrong. But it doesn’t have that good feel to me

I couldn’t dig the shutter. But that shutter wide angle love that throw.

Shutter…it’s okay. Wide Angle Shutter? Not a fan. Not for me. When I ordered my first Shutter I was at work and ordered in a rush and ordered the wide angle by mistake.

I didn’t get the a-rt/O.S.T. 69 or the a-rt Triptych.

I found the 69 to be boring, and the Trip was too light and fast for my tastes. I even got a second 69 after trading my first, just to make sure.

OneDrop Downbeat, pulled it out a couple of times and realized it was to small to be stable and to heavy to have good maneuverability…

Counter Punch has a rather narrow gap at 4.2mm, and Duncan’s red pads (whatever they’re called) protrude a bit and are super grippy. Try flowing your own silicone or using something a bit thinner like OD’s 19mm pads.

Sounds like your MVP has a rough spot that’s cutting the string. There’s a bunch of threads and comments about that—it happens sometimes, it doesn’t take much. It’s easily fixable. Take it apart, and rub the response area on your jeans a bit.

I had a yo-yo that cut string, and after cutting through 1 and a half strings, that was enough wear to smooth it out so it never was a problem again.
