Many years back I traded yoyos here and built my trading reputation. How will I know who is and isn’t a scammer now? Seems counter-intuitive to remove something like that

With the forum update they couldn’t transfer the info over. I believe they’re in the process of transferring it over now.
Generally if you’re selling the buyer would send money through PayPal first to cover it. If the buyer is worried, they can make it PayPal buisness or something like that instead of family and friends where their money is insured.
