What did you get in the mail today? 2021

Just got my Panorama in the mail, strung it up with the pack of Nytro string included in the order, and gave it a sesh. This amazing throw needs spikes immediately.

Have you tried throwing one? Im guessing you have given your comment, but tbh knowing your preferences, this isn’t really your kind of throw. I have only had mine for 30 minutes of playtime, but ill share why I think it is such a coveted throw. It is basically the same diameter as an MC with a more traditional organic narrowness and a really light weight to compensate. It has like the perfect float for an organic and as such just naturally flows with my mid-paced tricks. I could be honeymooning, but I really think not. The hype for this yoyo is legit so far to me.

Yeah, I guess I’m curious what kind of player the Panorama really appeals to. Do you have to be into light, narrow, high-walled yoyos to be amazed by it? It’s tricky getting a sense of how large that segment of the yoyoing population is.

I like it, and I could live without most organics. Tbh I feel like the Panorama is more butterfly than O but whatev. I think it’s mostly about the feel (and probably a healthy dose of hype at this point). It has a great presence on the string, even though it’s light. It doesn’t have a hollow feeling like some light yoyos do, especially some light bimetals, where they kinda feel like they disappear on the string sometimes (not in a good way). It just has a really satisfying feel. And it’s much more stable than you might think. It’s not one I pick for my only yoyo, but it definitely stands out as a unique player.

Its @sakatuca Takatsu Tsukasa’s signature, probably the most progressive trick creator in the current contemporary modern era. His videos and trick list are phenomenal

He has a spreadsheet of tricks even thats over 100

Trying to work my way through that spreadsheet. Made a copy and sorted by difficulty. Started a week ago and still only have one down.

Imperial is more popular to non yoyoers volume wise. That’s probably why they chose Imperial.

We have other collaborations in 2022, that is for BF model/s.

I’m digging the Imperials!! If I can hit a trick on this , I can certainly hit it on a butterfly. I think it’s making me a better responsive player. :+1:t3::yo-yo:

I was doing some Makin Da Zines and Bro Zines with my imperial the other day. If I can stall this I can stall anything lol

I’ll toss my opinion on the Panorama in the ring as well. This may come as a shock from someone who owns 8 of these things now lol, but I wasn’t sure at first that I LOVED the Panorama - it actually had to grow on me over time to eventually become my favorite monometal. When you come off of playing ultra stable, wide, competition yoyos all the time and then play the Panorama for the first time, there’s definitely some getting used to. Like you said - it’s narrow, it’s got high walls, and it’s light. Basically, things that newer/sloppier players might consider a con, as it results in less stability, but I consider those to be some of my favorite aspects of the yoyo. The in hand feel/catch feel is absolutely second to none because of the high walls/dimensions, and it’s by far my most comfortable feeling throw. Admittedly this yoyo plays off of the nostalgia of the “mid school” yoyos coming out in the early 2000s/2010s, which definitely is a huge aspect of attraction for me. In a way I feel this yoyo is up there with the Peaks, Hatricks, etc as it gives me the same feeling I got when playing those yoyos back when I first started throwing. If you’re like me and grew up playing those yoyos and yoyos like them, you’ll have a deeper level of appreciation for the Panorama. In a market full of competition yoyos, the Panorama is decidedly different in the best possible way. I think @sakatuca’a own description of it is the most accurate - when designing it, he wanted to make something “…you never really stop playing with. Without thinking about it, you leave them somewhere handy after a session. You pick them up again the next day, and again the next day. So it goes, day after day for months on end until suddenly… You realize that you’ve used them consistently for years.” For whatever unexplainable reason, the Panorama is one of those yoyos for me. It’s hard to put in to words what draws me to it so much… but all I know is that it’s my go to monometal now. If you’re not feeling it at first, keep using it, and I think like me you’ll eventually realize that it’s one of your favorites too.

This is the sort of personal insight I was looking for. I can’t help but wonder how many other Panorama fans share this sentiment.

I did not yoyo in the 2000s or 2010s but I love the shape of the panorama, bolt2, slim dunk, etc. It’s my favorite shape. Easier to play with for me than the super wide stuff that comes out these days.

I’m not into the wide stuff either. I’m also not especially into the slim stuff (unless we’re talking about 0A, I guess). For 1A/5A, I prefer the goldilocks size of yoyos in the 42-44mm width range. I own a few slender throws, but just never find myself playing them due to the frustration that comes with their narrow catch zones.

I actually feel exactly the same way. When I got my first Panorama, I threw it and almost put it right back in the box! Could barely land a trapeze, let alone do anything serious with it.

But then I said, nah let’s give it another shot…and I’m rather glad that I did.

Panorama has gotten me into a more laid back, relaxed feeling when yoyoing, and it has pushed me to get better, more accurate, and cleaner movements.

I’ve now been carrying one on my beltloop daily since the first release and I can’t put it down!

I’ve learned to trust my gut with these things. People raved about the Deep State, so I picked one up. Never play it. People have, in the past, recommended the Overture and so against my better judgment I got one. Can’t wait to sell it off, to be perfectly honest. People went on and on about the original Cadence, but I found it to be completely “meh” (the Cadence prototype I have is a different story). A consequence of all these experiences is that I have developed a healthy skepticism towards new yoyos that generate tons of hype, and my instinct is to find out why they are getting so much hype.

With regard to the Panorama (and throws like it), the slimmest “performance throw” I have is a Gorge, and while it delivers a very interesting play experience (and quite a satisfying one when I’m in the rare mood for that), I don’t find myself picking it up very often because I am rarely doing tricks that benefit from such a slender body. Narrow catch zones and high walls are a recipe for frustration (for me), and I’m not dedicated to this enough to push past the frustration to the point where it reshapes my technique in a meaningfully positive way.

Another opinion here, I’ll try to keep mine short and sweet.

So far, in my limited experience with it it just feels “right” in the hand and in play. Feels good to throw, feels good on the string, feels good to catch. The high walls offer good control, but you don’t sacrifice stability if youre not perfect. it feels very light and maneuverable on the string, but just keeps on spinning. Its incredibly satisfying to play with, and to me it feels more like “play” than some of my other unresponsive yoyos (I’m looking at you Shutter, I love my shutter I just dont feel like that yoyo invites a sense of play.)
