What did you get in the mail for 2020/2021?

What is a good nylon/ploy string manufacturer? Do you feel a nylon/ploy mix has a better feel than 100% ploy? I want to try some nylon kitty string and see how that is. I saw a brand called zipline And they looked like nice strings too.

What’s your favorite string?

Out of YYSL strings, my favourite is probably the Venom.

However, my current favourite go-to string is Original Throws String in their normal thickness.

I wish I had money to spend upwards of 100 on yo-yos lol.

My best mail day ever…long awaited Anti-Yo’s & powder coated grail, and some others that were stuck in the mail for a bit.

Normally it isn’t bad, but, COVID put everything on the so-called slow boat.

Isn’t that the truth? Even domestically. I have a throw that shipped from a couple states over on May 23. “In transit” since it left the post office of origin that same day.

US postal service is slowly falling apart as the USPS’ federal funding dries up. I have a number of parcels that have indeterminate delivery times. This is not an uncommon occurrence these days.

How do you like it?

Obviously I don’t “like” that you have a number of packages in limbo. But to recognize that you are on point - it’s been rare that a package has arrived on time (per USPS estimates) over the last two-plus months, and the last few weeks have been especially bad.

My gf and I both feel that we would rather be given overly conservative delivery estimates, which they are able to meet (or exceed), than have our expectations set unrealistically by fast delivery estimates, which they can rarely achieve.

In short, we wish the USPS would adopt the old Disney philosophy of “Under Promise and Over Deliver”.

100% agreed. I don’t know why they haven’t really adjusted that. I laugh when I read the COVID-19 alert on the tracking page. Indicates that there are slightly expanded delivery timeframes for some services. Yeah, okay. Why not just be real?

Of particular annoyance are the times when tracking shows a parcel “Out for Delivery”, but then it never makes it to my mailbox. Instead, that evening the status changes to “Delivery date unknown”, at which point it’s anybody’s guess when it will be delivered.

I believe this situation is a case of the parcel being on the mail truck, but the mail carrier simply does not have enough time–even in a 12-hour shift–to deliver everything in their truck on that day. It is well known that the USPS is woefully under-staffed, even when there is no pandemic paralyzing our economic infrastructure.

They probably had to lay off the programmer who knows how to adjust the delivery estimate algorithm.
