sheesh its a beaut.
3 recent mail days from the past week or so. Yoyofriends Peregrine X in peach from Monthly Throw Club, The Author from Rain City Skills, and the new Mukbang from Recess! Really excited about all of these, but the Mukbang might be my new daily drive. Included a pic of my current recess collection.
Just got Sleepers Kaizoku in the mail (yesterday) so have been playing with it all afternoon today. Its great ![]()
Appreciate you man ![]()
Yeah, there’s different modes - and different fonts that handle them better or worse. Plus there’s multiple elven languages & grammars that you can write in it. Some of them have a lot of information and some do not (like black speech).
woa i had no idea they were that small!
Missed this. Both are fantastic performers and really difficult to say one is better. During play the Tesract feels like performance was the main design and the stability is excellent. It’s not easily flusterd. Has a hard feel during play. The Obscure has very lively fun feel, softer more comfortable. I notice a little smile when playing it from how fun I find it. If I had to choose between them I’d probably choose the Obscure and it’s less expensive.
Wow what a mail day! ![]()
what yoyo is that?![]()
greetings from Zürich
That is a Caribou Lodge Minitee
It’s pretty unstable tbh, I found some unused car gaskets (pretty sure they are valve cover spark plug tube seals) that fit the rims perfectly and it helps it out. It’s fun, but more of a novelty than anything in normal use. Got mine in a trade, I think I would likely be much more frustrated by it if I bought it new. Despite its description, it is not friendly lol
Here it is compared to a butterfly for size and you can see the rings I put in for stability, they measure 1.65g each
Bonus photos: RCS Busker (and US quarter) for further comparison
I also found running a very thin string helps it too
I found that the Minitee took more than average time to really get into. Probably not surprising for a not-at-all average yo-yo.)
I agree that it is not stable. Combined with the width, it is not forgiving. This is somewhat made up for by how easy it is to recover (“easy” as in requiring only a light touch to steer it back into alignment).
It’s not powerful, but I can squeeze enough spin time out of it on a good run.
It’s not a go-to yo-yo for me, but now that I know what to expect, I find that it is worth playing now and again. (For the price, I can see that not being good enough for some people.)
My biggest complaint is that binds are frequently slippy and loose. To the point that I often have to cinch the string into the gap before the next throw. I also settled on a very thin string, which doesn’t help the binds, but seems better for everything else.
colorway looks nicer than i thought
Yeah, the Salmon Fade colorway has a peaceful feel to it. It reminds me of a Sunset
