The Amusing 2 is good! If you like that, go for the Max. It’s such a great, unknown throw.

Oh jeez. Forgot I bought one from Japan. Delivery was attempted Monday but I was at lunch I guess. Just realized it and it’s too late to go to the post office. “What I almost got in the mail”

Great color!
I’ll add my thoughts but not to a full review extent
The ThruLine has been nothing but impressive to me. My experience with it has been different from everyone else’s, and the size has honestly not been a problem for me, but I also recognize I’m in the very observable minority. I’m not sure why it works so much for me and not other people.
I’m in the same camp that with some refinements it could be better. The shape is odd for sure, the rims need to be more broad and curved imo. I also had problems with QC, mine came in with scrapes on the rim face where there’s no anodization. This could be attributed to run size and understaffing though, they made 10 colorways of the ThruLine and I’m guessing up to 50 per, so there’s a lot of ThruLines. I get the small defects like what I have and I don’t really care I just figured I’d bring it up cuz it’s been brought up.
But I’m 100% on board that this is the right direction for OD. It’s been a long dry spell for casual players who prefer something along the lines of the ThruLine from OD. At worst the ThruLine indicates a lot of potential with a slight misstep, at best it’s the first in a line of bangers from OD that actually embraces an audience that has a trick set composed of properly new school tricks. I hope nonetheless that OD keeps working on things for everyone.
Oh boy, I see more yoyo’s in my future. I’m very impressed by the Amusing 2, so smooth and refined and inexpensive. Thanks, I will definitely take a look at the Max!

So this is a huge disappointment! For some reason, the Atomos Ekta is now vibing like crazy, whereas it wasn’t when I went to sleep last night. I don’t know what happened but it’s just unacceptable. Can the humid weather cause this to happen? I checked the axle, changed strings and even tried a different bearing. I haven’t dropped it, not even once but even if I had, a yoyo at this price range shouldn’t be destroyed from a drop. I don’t play with my yoyo’s in doors, I play with them inside over an area rug, so the worst that could happen is that I slightly drop it on the rug… which I’ve done hundreds of times with other yoyo’s a fraction of the price I paid for this one without any ill effects. I tired adding a short clip to show you all how bad this is vibing but it’s a .mov file. When I have more time I can try to convert it to something this platform accepts. Oh and to make it even worse, my Magpie 2 is vibing hardcore too… I’ve never had luck like this before, so 2 bad yoyo’s within 1 day is crazy frustrating! I did email Atmos and I’m going to inspect the Magpie to see if I can figure out what’s going on there. I’m hopeful that Atmos will make this right, so no disrespect and I’m not trying to bad talk them at all, I was just hoping that may some of you have some suggestions.
My 2nd Monarch came, I liked this color combo so much, I had to get it. It lifted my spirits some but still overshadowed by the doom that I wrote about above.
Does it still vibe if you do a finger grind?
Holding a fingernail against the rim should also correct throw vibe.
I’ve never had a yo-yo go bad in the way that you describe.
I’ve definitely had off days where I couldn’t throw a smooth breakaway, which is the reason that a finger grind or nail vibe test might be instructive.
Wide and very rim weighted yo-you seem more sensitive. I suppose that temperature or humidity change could be a factor.
I hope you can find a resolution.
Thanks, I need to get this video up so I can share it… I am in no way a vibe freak but the vibe on this Ekta is ridiculous, it effects the play! I did push down on the the steel rims and felt some movement, that did help improve the vibe some but not much, so maybe they did loosen up during shipping and it’s been extremely humid here the past few days. I can live what the Magpie vibe was giving me and actually today, it’s really not as bad as I remember it being last night, in fact it’s possible that it was just user error. The new C3 throws I got were literally a fraction of that cost of the Ekta and they are as smooth as butter, in fact, I’m absolutely amazed at how good these are for the price… hell, not even for the price, these are just good yoyo’s at any price point. I guess that’s what’s so disappointing for me, the Ekta was throwing as smooth as butter yesterday too. I literally got it out this morning to get my mind of the vibe I was getting from the Magpie and then this happened, it literally made me sick to my stomach, I felt like I was taking crazy pills. I’m sure you all know how this feels, I’ve been anxiously awaiting this order from Singapore (found out I could have just ordered it from Rewind and it would have shipped from Cali for much cheaper shipping), I spent some good money on it, just to have it throw worse than some of my cheapest throws. Honestly, I’ve not had anything vibe as bad is the Ekta is vibing… bad first experience. It does look beautiful but that doesn’t help me any. haha.
I knocked my ekta around a few time and have not had issue. It’s actually glass smooth!
Do you have kids? . It is after all shiny and pretty. Maybe someone played catch with it.
