What did you get in the mail, 2023

I got a personal grail in today! I spent so long looking for this yoyo.

What are the biggest differences?

The 2.0 doesn’t feel as responsive to changes in direction, and on the initial throw it doesn’t have that solid “thunk” at the end of the string, though that could be due to the slippy pads and not due to a design change. The 2.0 is slightly narrower and, of course, the inner cup isn’t smooth at the hub. It has the axle dimple. All in all I much prefer the original Grasshopper GTX, but I am going to give the new version some more play time before I pass final judgment.

Any idea if the Ascent was designed by Jeffrey Pang?

No idea. It may have had info on the box but I trash those as soon as I open them I only saved the cheatcode box and raider cause they where mildly unique and they are gone now lol.

I was so close to pulling the trigger on this one! Ultimately I decided I didn’t need something so similar to the OG which I have and is fantastic. Instead, I picked up a Yonami Code as a consolation, which I also don’t need, but I got fascinated by the H and have to try it.

I was in need of a new case (I went a bit mental with purchases lately lol) so I took advantage from that to try two yoyos I was so curious: C3 - Laevateinn and the Cheatcode, received the parcel on Friday.

The C3 is an absolute beast, I took it cause I see many people talking about it, the price was so good and made me curious and I have to say that for that price you have a very light, fast trick machine an absolute technical yoyo which is no jokes at all, also glass smooth and with a very good finishing (they even took care to leave it “raw” where the string touch close to the bearing to cause less friction, a very angry V shape which impressed me so much and is a pleasure to throw. Have to say that from when I started to try C3 products this brand is really piercing into my heart, soooo good everything I tried, every thrower should have one of those in the collection.

The Cheatcode, I read so much around and I was sooo curious, I have to agree with most of people on this one, the advertise says “refined for maximum competitive performance”, I think it is not even close to that but it is still a good yoyo.
While I have no problems on doing DNA I wanted to try this solution and I have to say that this is a very fun yoyo for “DNA mess around” tricks, it feels quite heavy on the string, really glass smooth and seems it came with a good bearing, quite noisy but the yoyo has quite long spin and is able to keep with basically all the combos I have, I like the shape a lot and how it feels while playing very present on the string, I can say that they did a good job on this one overall is a yoyo that you can bring around and throw in some very good combos, have fun with DNA, play horizontal and more or less everything you want, I will just not use it in a competition for sure!

As freeby I got some sticker and some twisted strings but I have still to try them!

Cheatcode! I gotta say that I’ve never been able to land a DNA more easily than this! Although I can land the DNA pretty consistently I really wanted to experiment it different kinds of fingerspin tricks and this yoyo excels at that! I purposely bought this yoyo to encourage people to get into yo-yoing and enjoy doing the DNA with ease! And it definitely accomplishes that purpose.

Also I’m very impressed by the performance factor as well. Personally I have no issues or complaints when it comes to the competitive side of this yoyo. I can land all my tricks easily and the stability and spin time is fantastic! Trust me, it can hold up to competitive tricks and extreme pressure. @jeffreypang911 and @brandonvu did a fantastic job on designing this yoyo and I look forward to what’s in store for the future!

Well… this is it. The best mail day I’ll probably ever have (unless I cop a mint Levi white/blue mountain Peak someday ).

Absolutely pristine, 100% mint 28 Stories Peak.

I’ve dreamed of owning this exact yoyo since I was a kid. This is an absolute grail for me. And this one has a great story! Apparently this particular one was hand picked and gifted to Ben (RIP), well known Peak curator and author of the incredible and important “Complete History of the CLYW Peak” thread on YoYoNation, as a prime example of a 28s Peak. And I absolutely believe it - this thing is absolutely stunning and is probably the best example of 28 Stories I’ve ever seen. Who even knows how many mint ones are left? I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to be the caretaker of this beautiful piece of yoyo history. The previous owner had never even thrown it, but I’ve tossed it around a few times and man… it plays as great as it looks too. Dream yoyo acquired.:pray::pray:
