Did you oil that Carlson?
The Carlson CS is the best overall TMBR IMO. The eH is probably 3rd…

The yoyo hasn’t been oiled. It just came out a little more walnut than whit oak when I processed it.

Gnarly!!

This awesome yweti and a small comparison with the mechabape

The mechabape felt too heavy and slow. The titanium didn’t add anything other than the fact that its a cool material. I enjoyed it and it felt like a tribute to the original but it still wasn’t different enough and wasn’t smooth enough for $400. I would personally stay away from the A grades and stick to just the B grades for yweti based on price but that’s personal preference. The yweti has a light, floaty, fun feel that’s different enough from its original throw to make you think it’s something new. It’s considerably smoother than the mechabape and the coating is so nice to touch (other than it seems to rub off). It’s different enough from the original but it still has the oversized slim yoyo feel that is more on the light side even though it’s 68 grams. Overall I wasn’t impressed with the mechabape because it wasn’t different enough and the yweti is just different enough to make me appreciation it.

i like the grimy industrial look and feel of the b-grade yweti, it’s a nice tribute to the first run og ywet… i think the orange side of mine is even fraying up the string a bit

Interesting to hear your opinion on the mechabapezilla. It’s a yoyo I’ve been looking out for but a lot of people have different opinions on it.

First time playing an anti-yo has me honeymooning hard, but darn.

Just a bit too heavy for me. A nice throw but just not worth keeping for me.

You inspired me to do this mod on my aqua Snapshot and it worked out great!

It does feel a little strange, though, putting $12 worth of parts into a $6 yoyo. The results are quite good, but I think if I were looking for a small-bearing yoyo shaped similarly to the Spinstar (e.g., to hand to a beginner), I’d probably just get a Fizz ($10) instead.

I never intended it for a beginner, but this would be a great instructor’s mod if one was to teach a beginner’s yoyo class with Spinstars. I think the Fizz is just a rebranded Fast 201, which is an A bearing.
I really like mine for modern responsive play as it is a good weight and the K bearing is smaller than a A, but not quite as small as a TK I bearing. Being plastic it can also take some hits. Did you add your own decals? The Snapshot is currently the only blue one in the group, thinking about picking one up my self and doing a black decal.

The Fizz is similar to the Fast 201, and utilizes the same response system, but it isn’t a rebranded Fast 201. It has a larger diameter and a completely different cup design.

I did not add any custom decals to my Snapshot; I’m pretty content to leave it as is.

However, I am tempted to get another aqua Snapshot and sand it to a nice frosted finish. Same with a red Loop 720 with classic (Japanese) caps. I like the look of frosted plastic much more than glossy plastic.

It feels similar to also playing it with $2 a string Zipline [kot-n]

The Fast 201 promo video is also inspiring for responsive play, though I might have to pick up a Fizz.
