Hey man, I only just started, did about an hour last night and I have found it to be really fun so far.
For a more advanced player like you I think you might find it a little frustrating at first as it feels a little like you are learning to yoyo from scratch again lol. But I think you will pick it up much faster than me as you will have the basic coordination already.
This was a video of my 1 hour of progress last night, I hope it looks like I am having fun
Also you are in UK right? Do you have a counter weight? if not I can send you one
Thanks for the offer of a counterweight, but I actually ordered a Duncan freehand next gen from yoyoexpert, so that should get here soon. It comes with a counterweight so hopefully I’ll get on with it.
I used to have a kickside setup for 5a but I never really got into it, maybe just the wrong time for me. I’ve got a Dunk too from Jake Bullock, I think he highly intended it to be used for 5a, but I’m reluctant to setup a metal throw with a counterweight to begin with!
Ive felt the same way as you, but have been using a retic atra. It’s very nice and has definitely helped me learn because its on the heavier side and very stable.
Its not as bad as you think if you’re over carpet. Ive hit the atra hundreds of times in the past couple days with the counterweight and rolled it on the floor (carpet) there are paint marks from my monkey counterweight, but they all have been able to been scratched off
@Lukoyo, for our Trick a Week Challenge.
We are doing 5A for the entire month.
Just started last night learning how to hold, throw and catch a 5a yoyo and some of the early basic tricks.
Why don’t you join in with us for a month?
Will be fun as there will be lots of new 5A players to chat and learn together with doing the exact same things at the same time as you.
Shameless plug, that actually doesn’t benefit me in any way lol :
