I’m talking like one matchmakers drop per ball under a microscope lol. I used a needle oiler and watched the film envelope each ball, I didn’t flood it out, but it could just be too much lube like you are saying tho, I had for sure thought that was the case. I usually do this with thin yoyo lube from a certain return top tricks shop, but I decided to experiment. So probably too thick a lube, and too much of its like you are saying.
I service bearings similar to how I service watch movements, I like working in the details.
I go over each ball, and also scrape out string bits and other debris smashed into the races and tangled up in the ball cages, it’s pretty interesting how messy they can get and still spin fine in a pencil tip.
I wish I had a camera on my microscope, I would love to make a post sharing what I do and how they look under the scope. Someday, but it’s not priority right now
Honestly probably too much lube. If you clean it and it is still responsive dry then the bearing is worn out. Most likely the line you’re using is also too viscous.
FWIW, this text appears on One Drop’s store page for the 10Ball:
Your choice lubed or cleaned. Lubed is recommended for spinners if your priority is quietness. Lubed won’t spin quite as long, but it’s quiet and buttery smooth. Cleaned are recommended for unresponsive yoyo play.
